BRONZE MemberI read a discussion that was several years indicating that it is hard to get a replacement woofer for the P45 Speaker. My tweeter and filler sound really good, but no sound from the woofers. I took out a woofer and did a battery test you can hear sound but no woofer movement. It’s strange all 4 woofers look good but none work. So I’m thinking of taking the woofers to a speaker repair shop, they want $55 USD to realign each magnet. Total price over $200! Which is way more that I want to spend. I just sold an excellent condition pair of S60’s for $260. But I did find on Parts Express a woofer that seems to be a near perfect fit. GRS 5PF-8 5-1/4″ Paper Cone Foam Surround Woofer. It’s on sale for $11 total cost for 4 woofers including shipping about $50. Of course I prefer keeping things original but $50 vs $220 is a huge price difference. I’m actually going to use the P45 with a subwoofer, so would it really make a difference keeping things original sound wise?

ModeratorIt’s not difficult to find a woofer that will fit physically.
Finding one with the same T/S parameters, on the other hand, is impossible. (Keep in mind this is in effect a woofer in a midrange size).
The original woofer was custom produced for this speaker. A similar looking one was used in a larger Beovox model, but they
are far from identical parameter-wise.
I would repair the original woofers. Perhaps you can do it yourself. There are threads here in the forum showing how
to do the S45 woofer, which suffer from the same issue.
Same goes for the speaker used in the slim 1970s Beolit portable radios.Martin
