CharlieWednesdayGOLD MemberI have a Beomaster 3000-2 which is in great cosmetic condition and is working (I’ve only tested the radio so far, but it works), but there is a noticeable buzzing noise coming from the unit itself when it is switched on. The buzzing is coming from the unit itself, not the speakers. It’s not very loud but it is noticeable, and if you touch the top of the unit while it is switched on, there’s also a noticeable vibration. Again only slight, not you do feel it. Imagine putting your hand on a desk which has a vibrating phone on it.
I’ve read (on the old forum, and elsewhere) that this seems likely to be the bushes holding the transformer in place. Before I take a screwdriver to it, would anyone agree that this is likely the fault, and if so, where i would be able to get the right bushes to replace the existing ones?

ModeratorI agree that it’s likely to be the transformer. When my BC9500 was starting to do the same I searched the internet and found sites/advice about relaminating or ‘potting’ a transformer: basically tightening up the plates that make up its core and re-coating them with resin – some processes involve then baking the core in an oven! Have a google and see what you think! I decided it was all far to much trouble, and although I did replace the bushes under the transformer I am not totally convinced that it made much difference. Mine was placed on a particularly resonant sheving unit at the time, which didn’t help.
I don’t think Danish Sound Parts supply bushes for the 3000-2, but could be wrong.
