      Hi alls,

After a long research over the world wide web and without any success, I’m here!

Do any of you know about a device that would extract analog audio from the HDMI socket of the TV?

I know they are many HDMI audio extractor out there but they extract audio from an HDMI source before feeding the TV.

I want something that extract the sound from the TV (no earphones plug), to feed Beolabs, the same way a Beosound CocorucuConnect (Palomaaahaaaa…) does, but cheaper!

If any of you has one, does volume control work or is it fixed like the Optical out ?

      Thanks in advance.

To do so I think that your TV will have to have an HDMI-ARC (audio return channel) socket so that it is both receiving and sending audio.

If it does have such a socket, you should be able to use an HDMI-ARC audio extractor.  This one looks like it offers volume control through CEC on the ARC:  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Extractor-Converter-Support-Digital-Coaxial/dp/B08XV2B6T4?th=1

I’ve been using this one for the last 6 months: https://www.amazon.com/Tendak-Extractor-Converter-Soundbar-Amplifier/dp/B07CJ96MQV

Works quite well (so far)… although I only have mine connected to a BeoLit 20 so I can’t comment too much on the sound quality aside from it sounds great to me.

You do need to read the fine print to make sure the unit allows volume control. Not all do. I also had to fiddle with the digital audio output format on the TV, IIRC.

Also, I feel your pain. It took me far too long to find this device. Searching Google and Amazon with what I thought were good keywords just kept coming back with the HDMI splitters, and every other HDMI device except for this one. I eventually found a similar device mentioned deep in a home theater forum. The one under discussion wasn’t available, but that one brought me to this one.

I’ve run into similar issues trying to extract audio from my TV’s HDMI output, and it wasn’t as straightforward as I expected. Ended up getting an HDMI-ARC extractor, but like others mentioned, I had to tweak my TV’s settings to make it work properly. Some extractors don’t support volume control, so double-checking specs is key.

Speaking of conversions, I also deal with video format issues from time to time. When I needed to convert some media files into AMV format, I found this AMV converter pretty useful: https://www.movavi.com/video-converter/amv-converter.html.
