Software on BS TH and BL 28 are now on 3.2.1
_
General question for users: are we advised to recalibrate listening locations after an update due to updated sound profiles in the software?Thank you
And what about the so called upgradeable hardware in the BL 28 that was supposed to future proof it when new wireless tech came along? 🙂
In reality I think this is a gimmick more useful for a single pair in a smaller appartement where you move around from kitchen to sitting area.
The BS TH offloads processing from the BL 28’s anyway if I’m correct?
A calibration done through the BS TH sounds completely different from a room sense calibration of the BL 28 directly. Even more so when you throw the BL 19 into that mix.
I also wonder what the true benefit of an additional set of BL 8 is opposed to a pair of BL17 when all sound profiles are coded in the BS TH…
At this point I’m not sure what the best setup would be when you start with BS TH + BL 28 + BL 19 (BL28 is setup as surround atm)
Any experience in how the BS TH handles the BL 20 sound output?
Many thoughts and questions 😀
all the best
Can fluid sweet spot be implemented to existing BL28 by software update as a feature?
? ? ?
Does B&O have any advice somewhere on what setting the BL28 performs best as surround speakers with the BSTH ?
im not always feeling the surround vibe so I set them to wide since I’m basically sitting between the 28’s. But I miss the clarity of the narrow beam…
Any user advice or experience welcome too:)
Thanks for the feedback and passing it through. Very kind and nice to know you are being heard to eliminate frustrations 😉
would be great to be able to rearrange listening positions while you are passing requests ?
Good news, but why is it so unreliable to get beta updates? As mentioned before the 2.5.5 doesn’t show up even with beta activated in the settings?
Also a lot of issues with getting the BL28 to receive beta updates. They usually have to be separated to get bèta’s and the paired again to stereo after.
When did it roll out? Beo betas are odd and irregularly available,
cant trigger the update and subscribed to beta too…
That I understood but it’s the version. Not the build number. Last Beta was 2.5.3 (141)
the BL28’s latest are on 3.5.3(131)
in the about tab you kind see more info
Could you post build number please to compare to beta?
PS,
don’t forget to set the sound quality to lossless alas in Apple TV. Standard it’s set on 256 AAC
Most welcome,
I was also a bit on this research in the beginning when I first purchased my BL 28.
When you look at the specs B&O actually downgraded the WISA KHz from 24-bit/96 (BL 17/18/19) to 24-bit/48KHz, so I kind let it go since we actually upgraded from 16-bit cd’s anyways and I only stream digitally.
Knowing that if you do not hard wire the speakers but send digital audio over WISA the Apple TV as a media player will get you highest quality possible, airplay downsamples the signal to 16-bit. So using BS TH as an airplay device would mean compromising.
I must say I’m very happy with the capability of the BS TH and flexibility to integrate the BL 28 and the BL19&17 into various listening modes. knowing that the signal is a clean digital input that is converted by each speaker seems good enough for my ears 😉
So unless you use the TH to use WISA to speakers, there is little use to look into 24-bit/192HZ…
Found this info on the web:
It turns out that there’s a nuance to the HomePod’s use of AirPlay. It remains true that when you stream from a device like an iPhone to an AirPlay speaker, the stream is limited to 16-bit/44.1kHz. However, when a HomePod grabs a stream natively from Apple Music, it can share that stream with one or more additional HomePods (for the purposes of multiroom or stereo-pairing). It does this using AirPlay and can do so at up to 24-bit/48kHz.
Maybe a little off topic:
To my knowledge the easiest and highest signal input is to listen through a recent Apple TV supporting the mid tier lossless (24-bit/48kHz) over hdmi.
indeed the BS TH will modify the signal so much with listening positions but you have a decent digital signal directly to the TH.its just a hassle to navigate on screen instead of browsing computer or phone with Apple Music.
yes, that’s what I meant,
the list on BR1 under TV button says
HDMI A
APPLE TV
PS5
Also found the solution for modifying the HDMI name when selecting TV on Br1
The name needs to be changed in a different section of the app. follow the two screenshots since it’s in Dutch
“behavior at startup”
Correct
No sorry I deleted that comment.
i find the app confusing. The way you switched it i understand it disables CEC.when you don’t toggle the switch right cec is enabled.
its a double negative sort of thing
Never give up hope 🙂
The only thing that doesn’t work is shutting down the PS5 and making the screen go to sleep.
The theatre is on Beta 2.5.3(131)
I made 2 of the 4 quick buttons setup to have an HDMI source selected and a listening postion depending on the PS5 or AppleTV.
Found the HDMi selections under TV :), you are right they show as A, B ,C
Both are wired in hdmi a and c of the theatre
I can use BR1 to operate Apple TV or the Apple TV remote or the lg magic remote, all work fine
These basic setting in LG G1 and beo app works for me.
I can switch between ps5 and Apple TV flawlessly and turn everything on/off with Apple TV remote.
mand wake everything and jump to ps5 by activating the controller… -
