I think it is less to do with the remote but more to do with the programming of ASE platforms like the A6. I have previously reported to Support/Beta programme on the loss of functionality after updates.

My opinion is that a lot of the software problems now are associated with trying to get everything unified across different platforms

It may be quite a complicated fix. Your ears/brain “muscle memory” may have a lot to do with it.

I have found (recollect) the BL4000s sounded great….right up to the point I replaced them with BL3s. It was night and day for me.

Adding BL5s and assigning the BL3s to surround speakers is another step up….….then once again re-assigning 3s to an office streamer rather than the main lounge setup….as you say, they do sound flat. I also found that the better the streamer/DAC (non-B&O) also made the sound less enjoyable.

So upgrading (both speaker and source) plays a big part in what you hear/enjoy. I would not throw the BL3s out. Pairing them with a 11 is good, but finding a good streamer may help. However, the non-B&O route is fraught with getting a streaming DAC that can run RCA/XLR to powerlink, Daisy-link the BL11 and trigger on voltage in. There may also be line attenuation issues which may also contribute to the flat sound you are hearing (if not a B&O source?

Not sure why the A9 would not operate in a mesh network. I have an A6, Theatre and Halo which all work well if required, plus another 10 pieces of A/V gear.

I dont know your home network configuration is but you may want to try and have your Router wifi “invisible/forget” to all B&O equipment (or get the router to kick-off anything B&O) and then link the Mesh device (which is just an internal router in its own right) to the B&O gear.

In-fact, nothing in my home is connected to the Router other than the master Mesh device (by cable) and everything hard-wired or via Wi-Fi comes from the Mesh.

It may be (I assume/guess) the problem is having devices on different networks is causing the problem?

    Hope that helps?

    Good,

B&O cannot aspire to selling flagship products to movie stars, rockstars, influencers and other VHNWIs if they cannot treat normal bread and butter customers properly. The CEO must be told this and understand, they cannot arbitrarily increase prices upwards without a corresponding increase in service.

    I wish you good luck.

I don’t know German law specifically, but UK law (EU Law) would be for an immediate replacement of the LG Panel. If the panel was 50 to 70% into its warranty period, then a repair would be “reasonable” to all parties.

Further, by your B&O Dealer giving you a “Metz” screen and not another LG screen, he is denying you the inherent features of using the B&Oflagship soundbar with a fully integrated panel screen.

You should, in no uncertain terms demand an immediate a replacement LG screen (either as a full replacement, or as a temporary screen while yours is repaired) and that to include any demonstration screens on display in the Dealers shop.

You should tell the Dealer you are very unhappy with the current treatment buying such a high value consumer product from him to be treated this way. You could buy an LG G3 from Amazon Prime, have it for 8weeks, find a fault, send it back and receive a full refund and buy another – delivered in 2days tops.

Finally, I would make the Dealer aware that if he does not sort this out to your satisfaction by the end of the week, you will be informing Denmark (CEO) directly. Email is on the B&O website.

Stand your ground, insist on proper remedy, make a noise if you have to. This is totally 100% unacceptable

If this is supplied by B&O and less than 2 weeks old….should be classed as dead on arrival and a new replacement offered. No repair.

It happens (faults) but get your dealer to fix it via a new one (their supplier) and all should be good?

    1. Try a long press of the calibration button to reset.
    2. When I had BL5s, they could only accommodate 10 calibrations before they locked up and needed a Service Engineer to clear the memory. I don’t know if this was Mk1, only or mk2?

I think the synconising cable is just 2-ended 3.5mm mono jacks end to end. However, I would talk to your local dealer to get the specs.

This is to ensure both speakers raise/lower volume together as there is no powerlink between them or a B&O A or V master controlling. Again, I’d get the specifics from your local dealer

    Hi,

You will need a 3.5mm jack-cable to synchronise the two BL5s together and a Beo4 Remote.

A Beo4 Remote will need to configure (Loudspeaker mode – L.Setup) the IR of the BL5 to accept commands (Vol Up/down and standby).

Depending on your Streamer, you can feed Coax dig out/in directly. If your Stream has its own DAC, it will need to be via the RCA connect. Note input voltage should not exceed 2 VRMS – otherwise it will distort and you will need a good quality attentuator.

….. respectively a set of BL 18 with addition of the Almando device (like Mr10% adviced)……. …….you would almost be at the costs of the BS Theatre.

MM, Not sure if I am misunderstanding you here?

I was not suggesting any additional loudspeaker – Balance or BL18s.

It appears to me that the OP has a potential problem with the BV7-40 (which could become a brick at any time). If the Stage does not permit loudspeaker connection and the Theatre is too expensive, the Almando may be the only viable way to keep existing loudspeakers? It may be possible – I dont know how good/bad/indifferent the Almando is, but if it works, the OP can upgrade to Beolabs at any point – either new or legacy?

A LG Panel, with Almando and current Beolabs is by far the most cost-effective solution I would surmise – but with potential integration issues you would not have with the Theatre etc…

Have a look at threads and the website for the Almando Sound processors.

These boxes convert TV HDMI output to 5.1 and connect to an RJ45/Beolab trigger compatible output.

This may help you Bridge the gap between Stage and Theatre?

The Theatre – with RoomSense listens to the pre-calibrated output of the BL5 in terms of distance, timing and tonal response. The DSP in the Theatre then applies an adjustment to its own output to “optimise” the combined effort.

I.e. Pre-calibration of the BL5 (it’s own calibration pair) when given a flat impulse at a given frequency……..sounds like your BL5 in your listening position. A set of internal reference values in the Theatre then says……”can add/subtract a bit more lower frequency boost” to stay within agreed frequency envelope.

    That’s my slant on it.

    Another thing to consider.

The LG panel needs registering via the LG app. I/my installer had difficulty feeding that through. It was done however remotely via my Dealer 100miles away. The Theatre registration (via the BeoApp) was straightforward without issue.

When I purchased my Theatre….it was an LG G2 65inch. Said so on the box (no attempt to hide branding etc….).

Be careful on the colour choice. If you are going for a coloured Theatre, the banding on the G2 at least is natural Aluminium. i.e. Anthracite Theatre and a default Silver banding on the LG Screen (G2 at least). I think you can specify black banding on an LG panel as a special(???) but not the other colour.

Just to add a bit more accuracy, (but assuming Im not 100% spot-on…a BV-style Theatre is going to be:-

Then add-on the Stand of choice (motorised or table) and if you want wooden frets……

The screen cost is by difference and assumes a LG C2/G2 model.

There are rumours that B&O will be increasing the cost of the Theatre by 20% in August!! – so if your buying…better place your order ASAP

    Depends on your mounting options.

If you want a Theatre on a shelf and a wall-mounted separate LG panel, then you order the Standalone theatre and separately a Panel.  I dont think the theatre comes with a BR1 but it does have its (cheap) wall bracket.

You will need to add money for the wings. I think the 55in is included(in the price??) but the 65 and 77 wings are going to be £800-1000 extra for a set. (you dont keep the 55in wings)

If you wish to mount the Panel and Theatre to be a Beovision, add another £1000-1200 for the SMI (Screen-mount interface). Then add £2800-2900 for the motorised Stand or Wall mount or £400-500 for the static Table stand.

There should be no reason why you cannot buy everything you want from the Dealer, less the panel. Tell’em you already have one.

    Hi

The Theatre has the sound profiles for the BL8000 in its memory. You may have to change the Powerlink cable (RJ45 out, PL DIN in).

You can configure the Theatre to distribute the sound as you want via “listening positions” and modify the timbre of the sound via Sound modes settings. I would say you could upmic 2.0 to 5.1 but I wont say how good or authentic it would sound.

There is a cable you can buy from B&O or SoundsHeavenly to connect a Beogram via the USB-C input. I do not know if this works without a separate or internal RIAA PreAmp?

You can configure the Bass to the limit of your system or add a Sub. You can configure the crossover. (Default is 120hz).

The music output of the BL28s will be very good. much better than the BL8000 which are a few generations earlier in design. like everything, have a listen before forming an opinion. It may be a sound you like, love or hate? You may still prefer the sound of your BL8000’s?

Ultimately, if you are interested in the Theatre/BL28’s, I would amble down to your local Dealer for a proper Demo.

The price raise was going to be 25% but B&O reduced it to 20% but excluded all power cords 🙂

UK Dealers will be so happy with that.

All the VHNWI’s who thought B&O were cheap and beneath them will be kicking down Dealer doors like it was a limited edition Balenciagia handbag to place their orders.
