BRONZE MemberThere is a independent repai person in the Netherlands which repairs various B&O equipment among which the BL5.
He found the error quite quickly and repaired it. But he also replaced a lot of other parts which he knew could also fail in the future.
That said, I ended up selling them to a Second Life shop. Because the components simply become fragile across the board, I think replacing the entire electronics with one of the DSP powered, class D plate amplifiers you can buy nowadays is probably a better solution for BL5’s that need repair. But somebody needs to design a physical solution or adapter to fit this in the BL5I actually expected something, a re release, from B&O with their 100 existence this year. But this has not happened.

BRONZE MemberI have an LG 77G3 and a Stage. Does anyone know if the CEC path on the HDMI Connection is actually used? The point to point CAT5 cable should be capable of handling all communication between TV and Stage.

BRONZE MemberI have a set of Beolab 5’s which were both repaired (with refurbished main chassis) in December 2021. One of these now has again a defect, it picks up AM noise on the tweeter only. Currently the main chassis replacement has doubled in price compared to 3 years ago and delivery times are apparently more than 6 months. Combine that with a good chance a board will fail again soon (they are filled with Elco’s) I am reluctant to go the official route again.
My B&O dealer gave me a modest trade inn value on 28’s and a very good trade in value on 50’s, in fact that was more than the price I paid new for the 5’s. But even with that trade in value I still have to pay 40k Euro for a set of 50’s and that is beyond the divorce amount. So, maybe I can repair them myself?
Edit:
The PCB6, B&O – Beolab 5 Ice system1 has a failure and it is available online at kosetrading for 650 Euro. But the failure is probably a small smd component costing less than 1 euro.
is there anyone who can help me repair them?
any help is appreciated,
thanks,
Eric.
