Thanks for sharing your setup on BS 9000. I was originally going to plug the Beogram directly into the BS Core, but will leave it in the auxiliary of the BS9000 as you suggested. Could you clarify how you integrate the NL/ML converter into the BS Core?
Btw! I had a Beoconnect Core on loan from my dealer and decided I was better off with the BS Core for the exact reasons you mentioned regarding Mozart platform integration challenges. I also found my current Roon Nucleus to USB Audio in my BL50 was better and I will be getting a EverSolo DMP-A8 Digital Media Player Streamer which also allows native integration of Apple Music soon for Hi-res streaming.

@sandyb, I agree with both of you if conditions were ideal that 50’s as front would be the best setup.- Current Recessed TV placement, fireplace and A/C Vents/HVAC on either side and glass wall on left side is a challenge.
- Current placement of 50’s on right wall is to the left and right of a large glass windows with reflections and creates challenge for the Avant TV placement.
The dealer and I made this setup compromise as I am more of a music person than movie person and spend way more free time in music mode between CD, Vinyl and digital streaming 🙂
15 April 2024 at 10:04 in reply to: Beolab 50: Ideal BS 9000 and Beoconnect Core Setup Advice #54276@millemissen, Thanks for your feedback, I will take a look at the options you have described.
Regarding the setup, As explained, the reason I ended with described placement here is because the architecture— while simplified in diagram does not permit having 50’s left and right of Avant without investing in costly construction and cable runs (TV is recessed in cabinet and no wall outlet or network run along front wall below.
I know I could run cables on the wall surface into recessed built in bookshelf but it would be unsightly and messy looking. They way it is set up now is to make the best of what I inherited from a space and placement possibilities. So BL50 direct to Avant is not an option for me. Network and wireless are considerations to Avant.
15 April 2024 at 07:10 in reply to: Beolab 50: Ideal BS 9000 and Beoconnect Core Setup Advice #54274@Sandyb, Thanks for the quick reply. Great to know the WISA capabilities of the 50’s can be combined with wired with caveat of manual switching needed in the App or Halo remote as shown below.
One question I still have is if I need the current BS Core or new Beoconnect Core in the mix at all if I connect the ML output of the BS9000 to my newly acquired ML/NL converter which also has Powerlink and RCA inputs. Seems I may get better access and remote control of the BS 9000 CD and Beogram. From what I heard I can then program buttons into Halo via Beoliving intelligence to activate BS 9000 functions and Beogram.
The only advantage I see with new Beoconnect core is inclusion of Tidal Connect and USB direct to 50’s but my Roon Nucleus already provides Tidal to 50’s via USB direct and much higher quality Airplay than current BS Core to other speakers on the network.
Regarding the upgrade to higher end streamer/ DAC like the Linn Select with Katalyst DAC. Is the difference considerably noticeable to the ears be worth investing down the line based on your experience? Does volume control present challenges ?
Hi Lee,
First off, Thanks for all you and Keith for all you continue to do. Like most, the Gold membership was worth more to me than the Prize draw, which I never paid attention to due to formerly been based in the US. The knowledge base, advice, manuals, connections and conversations have always paid for my investment in membership. I have often saved so much money from paying for consultation time to troubleshoot challenges B&O equipment that even some new dealer employees had no clue how to resolve.
I personally would continue to support the annual fee but as suggested it may be worth revisiting the membership types fee structures with possibly lower membership with lower fees and gold for those like myself who value the Gold benefits. I would also consider allowing members to donate above and beyond the gold fee of £30 if they wish. I personally would do so within my budget.
Cheers,
Ola
@Sandyb – I also recently got a pair of BL 50’s with Roon Nucleus connected via USB for use with Tidal. I also currently have an alternate setup for Beolink Multiroom for streaming Apple Music to connected B&O Multiroom speakers via BS Core including the BL50’s. For focused listening in my lounge on BL50‘s, I use Tidal via Roon Nucleus over USB direct.
- What Linn Streamer did you purchase. Seems the current offering are LINN Majik DSM & LINN Selekt DSM
- What were the reasons you added the LINN streamer between vs USB direct to BL50‘s
- I would like to connect my Beogram 4000 to the setup. How is the MM phonostage?
Thanks
Hi there, I am a BL50 and Roon (Nucleus) owner and user. While I understand some of your post and question, I dont quite see what you setup is or what you setup is going to be (my apologies). Speaker wise, what do you have or what are you looking for setup wise? What outputs do you have coming out from your NUC? There is one forum user who uses a Nucleus direct into a pair of BL50s, using the USB audio out on the Nucleus and the USB audio in on the BL50s (not sure if the 28s have that same USB audio in). My usage is Nucleus into Linn streamer/DAC, and then RCA out into a pair of 50s (mixture of Qobuz and my stored music) Out of interest, why are you looking at a 4.0 speaker array? I’m fine myself with using 2.0 for music, but thats just me,. Big picture though, for all that the 50s (and 90s) are incredibly capable speakers, B&O dont in my view make an audio source / connection hub that serves those speakers well.
Okay!Found answers in forum archives. Welcome any more recent advice based on more recent experience too. Thanks
