BRONZE MemberI have 8s as rears with my Theatre. The control panel does light up on the 8s and is functional. You can select favorites and adjust volume etc on the Theatre from the 8s. I don’t believe there is any way to listen to music just on the 8s although I have never tried. I suppose it might be possible to create a listening position through the Theatre that includes only the 8s.
Actually, while you’re here… I don’t know anyone who has B&O speakers except the guys from the store :), so I’d be grateful if you can give me some real-life experiences and feedback on this Theatre+8s combo. How is the experience living with it, is there something you wish you’d knew before you bought them, are there any problems with connection or similar (are you wifi connected for 8s or ethernet also), etc… whatever you wish to write, I’d be grateful. With this I would only enter the B&O world for years ahead I hope, and I already made one wrong decision few years ago.
I bought B&W Formation Audio for my turntable, Formation Wedge for kitchen, Formation Flex for bedroom, Formation Duo as main bookshelf speakers in living room connected to TV as well via BT… and the platform got abandoned 2-3 years lager etc., so I have a bit of trauma deciding for another more expensive even platform, even though B&O is here for decades so I hope they won’t have issues like B&W had in changing the strategy 🙂

BRONZE MemberYes, the plan was to have a listening position for music with only 8s as stereo, and “movie position” with theatre+8s as rears. Ok, great and good to know, thanks for writing!

BRONZE MemberThe only thing I don’t like about them is when connected to a Theatre or other sound system they become “Dumb speakers” and the top control panel stays off. The large piece of empty black glass looks cheap or unfinished to me.
Other than that I heard they sound better as front speakers than BL18’s do as the 8’s have more bass.
Hello, this is quite a relevant comment for me – I’m thinking about buying theatre + 8s in the back, which would be in the same time a stereo listening position in that room (dual sided sofa), and it will be useful for my wife to have those shortcuts on top to turn on some radio or music when she’s chilling out.
If I understood your comment correctly, I won’t be able to do that if I pair them with Theatre? They just become a “dumb back speaker” and I won’t be able to use them as a stereo listening position when I wish so and not use controls or buttons on them at all? So even when the TV is off in the living room, the back speaker in the dining area will not be able to be used for listening to music?
Even my “dumb” B&W Formation has volume controls on every speaker that can be used to adjust volumes, I cannot believe BO would miss this opportunity. Thanks in advance for the answer 🙂
