Thanks that is useful but yes a precise “as and from serial xxxxxxxx foam was upgraded” would be great intel four our community.
Slightly off topic, I have also read that the internal cabling in a BeoLab 1 was covered in wrap-around foam that also went bad and damaged circuit boards.
Same question applies: was this bad foam in all serial numbers or only some of them? Might be them all as the BeoLab 1 had a shorter production run than the BeoLab 8000. Any input on this would be very interesting and useful as well.Did B&O ever change the foam used to a better type that doesn’t rot and if so from which serial number? Is there an easy way to check which foam one has without having to open the entire speaker?
That’s a very fair point but hardly complimentary of the official software releases ?
I spoke to support recently and they advised against the beta as it was full of bugs and I would need to factory reset the Theatre if I needed to revert to the previous software.
I would prefer to wait for an official update. They’re not paying me to beta test.Still no update for me so my Theatre is still on v2.3.4
Thanks millemissen,
are these sources internal LG tv sources or hdmi sources connected to the Theatre?
thanks
I’ve already made these changes but the names I apply are not reflected on the BeoRemote One.
Are the names you have added shown on the BR1?Yes confusing I would agree.
but you have not turned the toggle on hence not disabled CEC?
Okay I understand thanks.
I’m on an older non-beta software.Just to confirm, when you say CEC is set to off in the Beo app do you mean “CEC Disabled” like in my screen grab? Just trying to trouble shoot here 🙂
Okay thanks than there’s still hope 🙂
My Theatre is on sw v2.3.4 are you on the same?
Also, how does these show on your BR1? Mine only shows “HDMI A” despite I have changed it to “Blu-Ray” in the app for the Theatre.
is your PS5 and Apple TV connected to your TV or Theatre?
And, a you control it with a BeoRemote one rather than your Apple Remote?
So I’ve played with my setup a little more today and the CEC controlling of Blu-ray player connnected directly to the Theatre is absolutely rubbish. In fact it doesn’t work at all.
1) when CEC is not disabled in the Theatre I cannot switch away to other sources once the Blu-ray player is turned on. E.g. when I try to watch live tv while the Blu-ray player is still powered on the tv attempts but is quickly pulled back to the Blu-ray player as a source.
2) when I disable CEC in the theatre I can freely change source to for instance live television.
3) at either approach 1) or 2) I can only control with my BeoRemote after I have started to control the Blu-ray player using the LG remote that came with my CX television. But still after a while of not controlling the Blu-ray player I loose the ability to control it with my BeoRemote one until I again first initiate the controlling with my LG remote.Have any of you experienced this issue and if so is there a solution?
Very late last night I made it work with CEC with the Blu Ray player connected directly to the Theatre.
It wasn’t obvious to me but I connected the Blu Ray to HDMI A on the Theatre. Disabled CEC for this port on the Theatre. Then via the LG menus I set the Blu Ray player up to be controlled via CEC and then I could control it with my BeoRemote One (via the Theatre).
If you do not deactivate CEC in the Theatre it kept jumping out of the setup process on the LG. Incidentally after this process I could control the Blu-ray with my BeoRemote one even with CEC turned off in the Theatre. I have not turned it on again as when I turned off the system the Blu-ray player didn’t turn off.
Controlling the Blu-ray with BeoRemote one worked fine otherwise. Can report back later when I’ve had a chance to test it more but it definitely is possible to control a Blu-ray player connected to the Theatre with the BeoRemote one.Today I connected my Blu-Ray player to HDMI A of the BeoSound Theatre. I would have assumed I could then control basic functions of the Blu Ray player via CEC but it doesn’t control anything at all.
I know I can connect IR PUC cable but would have thought basic functions via CEC would suffice. What am I missing please? I’ve left “disable CEC” to off in the “source startup behavior” menu.
My three Beolab Receiver 1’s all show different firmware, is it the firmware that is supposed to update or is there a separate software?
My three receivers have the following firmwares:
FW Version 189-10
FW Version 193-3FW Version 208-3
When downloading the software update from B&O the included text file shows the following description for the receiver but it doesn’t really compare to my firmware versions hence I am unsure whether it is the firmware that is meant to update.
from text file from B&O:
BeoLabR1: 1.0.1.7196 (FEP: 1.00a), (SUMMIT: 0208-03)I’m not sure I understand the issue or reasoning.
When you play to the Beolab 28 only, they are working without the Theatre right? If so they are on Wi-Fi and have good connection. When you use the wireless connection between the Theater and the Beolab 28 they are using a wireless wisa connection (rather than Wi-Fi) between the Theater and the Beolab 28’s. It is not your standard Wi-Fi so a wired Ethernet cable to the Beolab 28’s with Internet connection would not improve the connection.
However a Powerlink cable between the Theatre will replace the Wisa connection and thus eliminate a dropout (obviously Powerlink is nowadays in the RJ45 format as well).Sorry if I misunderstood your post though.
Mine is fine but I only have the LG connected via HDMI. As for speakers I have 7 wired to the Theatre.
The system works fine but I can’t integrate it with my link NL/ML system. Have heard that a sw update should allow for that.I wasn’t aware I could request an update fix via the dealer but I suppose if it isn’t generally released to everyone there might be a reason for it and it could introduce new and different issues. At the moment the only issue I have is batteries are used quickly and I can’t activate sources of music from my link system.
Just replaced batteries again. This is the second time in slightly less than 3 months so seems to last 6 weeks before needing to be replaced.
Here’s hoping a software update will eventually fix this.
Is anyone aware of B&O’s software update policy? I.e. whether to fix smaller issues as and when or to release few software updates that are intended to fix all issues at the same time? I guess I’m just wondering as I haven’t seen any updates since I installed the system in Dec-22.
I had no update yesterday but I am not on the beta program.
