I just saw this on the BBC site and thought it may be interesting to other Forum members:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyjvn658n6o
It includes an interview with Mark Maher, who post repair videos to YouTube under his ‘Mend It Mark‘ channel – I have referred to his videos when replacing a laser in one of my BC2300s.
3 December 2024 at 20:43 #61319Hi Guy,
A very good read. I too have followed Mark’s Youtube channel – fascinating bloke and enormously talented. I do love it when he decides to engineer a replacement part, as well as the electronics side.
6 December 2024 at 16:45 #61386He fixed a Beocord 5000 – hence a genius! It was the 2 head version but even so – and it did give him problems – which they all do!
6 December 2024 at 19:38 #61392I have just seen his latest video – he suffered a copyright strike after the fix of a Tom Evans Phono preamplifier (£25,000!!) which he fixed but clearly whilst doing this exposed the fact that it was an overcomplicated and badly made device – despite the fact that this had been sent to him by the manufacturer as they decided they could not fix it! Can I suggest as many of us subscribe to the channel to support him but also because he does some wonderful videos – I imagine Multicare will watch them as well if only for the laughs!
