6 March 2023 at 19:14 #43970Nice, dropping a line in order to check my current member status. From my own records, I should be one of the 22 as I have maintained my gold mebership since 2007. However, mostly lurking.
Regards
Sverre
Edit, screendump from the main site

27 May 2024 at 17:10 #55997Keith, I am curious how long ago was it since I joined ?
29 August 2024 at 21:14 #58689I suspect I am no longer a founder member though was the very first moderator at the start of Beoworld when run by Steve. It has certainly been a long time ago and things have changed – I encountered Beoworld first as Steve had ‘borrowed’ a number of my pictures from Beocentral, a B&O site run by the Jarman brothers. This was settled amicably and I then started helping Steve. Some may remember the meeting in France when a number of us met up. The idea was to set up a B&O museum in the hotel Steve had set up but unfortunately this came to nothing. Lee and I picked up a lot of the equipment I had donated and we became good friends ( and still are!) My thought on B&O these days are very mixed – I still have a fair amount of older equipment ( a fair bit is being fixed at Multicare as I post!) including the Beomaster 4401 and infamous Beogram 4001 (it’s a fake!) but failing hearing and a dislike of most of the new products has seen me drift away – play more with cars and dogs these days! Keith is an excellent chap – was a pleasure to meet him and his wife when they were up in Newcastle though that was many years ago. I am pleased to see the site still running and a good number of the golden oldies still active!
30 August 2024 at 08:26 #58704Hi Peter,
Good to hear from you – I assume from your post that you are the ‘Peter’ from the second post in this archived thread: https://archivedforum.beoworld.org/forums/t/35259.aspx
… with an impressive 9,572 posts on that forum alone!
I do of course remember you from my early days on Beoworld – I think your earlier avatar also showed a dog but I may be wrong. I certainly valued your inputs back then and am honoured to be following in your footsteps as a moderator (and possibly ‘golden oldie’) today.
With regard to ‘founder member’ status, I think that should still be valid and showing against your name regardless of current membership level – perhaps @Multicare could make the necessary amendments?
Regards Guy

multicare.org.uk30 August 2024 at 18:10 #58739Thank you – have edited profile as well to include dog though not convinced is same one – this is Brutus who was my last dog – we lost him a good few years ago but still have at present 3 bassets and a labrador , but these are really my wife’s and daughter’s.
Thanks to Multicare who are at present fixing some old equipment for me. Couple of small speakers (M100.s!) and some audio bits.
I did post a lot as I had a considerable collection of 60s, 70s,80s and 90s equipment and when Steve set up the site, we decided that the best way to make it successful was to make sure every post was answered the same day. Because I had most of the kit, I could usually go and test things and then tell them how it worked. The official B&O site was really somewhere where dissatisfied customers complained and B&O closed it as it was not conducive to their sales. I think because we were not B&O, we were given a far easier ride and had far more positive posts – once they knew that we would always reply, the site ballooned and continued to do so. We attracted some fantastic moderators who knew far more than me but continued the answering of queries. B&O were always very positive. particularly after Lee took on the site and we visited Struer a number of times and were looked after very well.
I am afraid I started to bow out once the manufacture was outsourced to China and once the audio systems were discontinued I felt my role was done. Glad to see things are still up and running and I know Keith is a superb organiser. I have retired as a GP this year and no doubt will be around a bit more. I remember the bike avatar Guy!

Hi,
That is correct, you are a founder member as shown on the forum, your profile shows the level of membership that you have, this would be Bronze, Silver or Gold.

multicare.org.uk11 September 2024 at 19:36 #59018How nice to see “Peter” back here! I wondered where he’d gone. I used this forum a lot in the past, also in the early years (I thought Beoworld Forum already existed in 2005-2006?) , and I remember it was always a pleasure to read Peter’s informative posts.
If I take myself as an example, interest in things related to B&O varies over time; sometimes other things get on the foreground, but I always keep an eye on B&O every now and then. Very happy with my newly bought (restored) Beomaster 2000 (70’s) together with my S45-2’s and a Beogram 1700/MMC20EN; an absolutely joyful set I listen to nearly every day, and the reason my vinyl record collection grew considerably last two years. (stimulated by great recent reissue initiatives like Blue Note’s Classic/Tone Poet series and Deutsche Grammophon’s The Original Source series, and a lot of excellent second hand classical/jazz records)
Modern B&O speakers still are great though, although no audio-systems as such are remaining. Still like the brand.
12 September 2024 at 10:13 #59028Thank you for that – I take it you mean the nice wooden flat 2000 – I had one of those and the quad version, the 3400. I particularly liked the feature of the ‘bonnet stay’ so you could service it more easily! I too still have S45.2s – one of the stars of the Uniphase range though I confess they are rarely used. Just reacquired a Beocenter 9500 which I regard as the best design of music system B&O ever made especially when paired with a Beolink 7000. I am rediscovering some compilation tapes (!) that I made in the early 80s! My B&O collection has almost all be given away or sometimes sold. Theb most used part is a Beolit 700 (Colour version) which is still stupendous!
As I no longer no much about the present range, I will not post as much as I did – when Beoworld first started, I made it a rule that every query would get an answer in 24 hours if at all possible and this became ever easier especially when we attracted other members – Martin comes readily to mind with his encyclopaedic knowledge!
