I just completed renovating a Beolink 5000 with new capacitors and new LCD cable (supplied by a very nice fellow on Beoworld)

For arround 7 years ago I purchased a complete Beosystem 6500 in white. The MCP 6500 main PCB was in bad shape due to leaking batteries and had been stored away until now.

Thanks to fellow Beoworld member Madskp who has supplied me with a doner MCP, I now have a fully functional mint white MCP complementing my Beosystem 🙂

Great to see that my donor parts could help make one working and by the looks great looking MCP 😀

Hopefully you can avoid future battery leakage

Here it is all done, a nice little weekend project! I plan on offering this for sale, if anyone would like one, please feel free to PM me. Not sure what other Apple TV versions might fit but this is currently designed for ATV 4K Gen 2. Also, if there are other 3D printable / CAD related challenges anyone has been thinking about, would love to hear them.

Hi Evan, that looks very natural! There is this thread where a range of ATVs was listed for dimensions and IR sensor location: https://forum.beoworld.org/forums/topic/fitting-a-new-apple-tv-into-a-beoplay-v1/. Maybe useful.

              Regards, Johan

Hi Evan, I agree with Johan, that looks very good, as the „stripes“ (do you say something like that in English?) of the BV7‘s back are taken over into your design, really very nice. Is the apple tv getting on in that mount? Hopefully not very much.

Edit: btw, congrats also to the BL4000 stands! 🙂

Hi Filip, that is a great job, did you have to create new contacts from the solid mount of the remote to the glass of the display? I have two BL5000‘s which work in principle as soon as I hold the (loosened) glass of the display very tight to the contacting area of re remote body.

PS: Filip, I think I found it myself, your report in that thread

                    Beolink 5000 finally a solution?

                    Thanks!

IMG_1118Working on a 1994 Trek road bike restomod project – but not without some music playing on the BeoLabs!

I had two of these for less than 100 euro’s, stripped them and had the cabinets powdercoated. As they are centerchannel speakers I feed them 2xL and 2xR (tweak in the RJ45 wall outlet). They are connected to a BLC that gets the NL from an Airport Express. Happy with my (once) 6000 euro garage soundsystem 🙂

Very nice, and probably much better sound stage than the Beolab 2000 you were planning with at some point.

I notice that you have integrated the IR eye into the electrical fixtures. I am not sure it would fit into the types we primarely use here in Denmark

A bit of overkill I would say haha. The integration in the Busch-Jäger wall outlet looks more than it is: I glued a ‘blind’ cover into the plastic frame and then drilled out the hole for the IR eye. The IR eye is attached to a bracket inside the wall box with some velcro tape. Good enough for the garage. Thanks Madskp! Johan

Appreciate the comments, thank you! Mission accomplished – I did want the mount to look like it belonged. Apple TV seems to be just fine in there, the ventilation seems to be working alright. Glad you like the BL4K stands as well 😀

This is awesome! We clearly need to start a garage/mancave/workbench photo thread!

I agree on that – flashyour b&o garage/mancave! „Unfortunately“ I am in holidays and cannot start with own photos. Btw, the „flashyourb&o“ and „…latestaddi(c)tion“ threads were always very funny, hope, we can revive these 🙂

Best regards from the nice Austria

I am trying hard to think of any working B&O items in my garage haha! Certainly nothing that is in use.

…all busted or in some state of waiting on repairs.

I think the only working units are extra Beo4s! 😀

I’ve been inside my Beovox MS150.2s in the last day or two. (…)

Hopefully, it’s not a fix I’ll have to repeat again. Meanwhile the next loudspeaker job awaits, but this isn’t a B&O one – sorry! Yamaha NS1000M 2s

you know, what we’re dreaming of? A fair comparison between the MS 150 and the Yamaha. The yamaha has been a favourite among audiophiles for ages, but no one ever did a comparison with the falgship of B&O. I miss the golden Hifi age 😀

I had my MS150s repaired some years ago by Richard Allen speakers – they serviced them but were so impressed with their sound that they tested them properly and presented me with the frequency chart saying they had some of the flattest frequency responses they had come across in a pair of speakers and were very impressed. I actually sold them as this series of speakers had tweeters that seemed to shriek to me at higher volumes – I preferred the older M100.2s which I still have though I doubt they actually perform as well. I also prefer the finish of the earlier speakers – B&O seemed to be using slightly poorer materials though the electronics performed probably better. I seem to remember these Yamaha speakers were very bright and needed very good sources or could be shrill. But excellent speakers they seem to be in need of a slight polish though 😀

I know, Peter, I know, I’m working on it! Sadly both tweeters are dead and beyond repair, so I need to source a set from Japan before work can continue. And, of course, in the meantime, I’ve bought another pair of speakers that need some work…

Interestingly, I know the NS-1000Ms have a reputation as being ‘bright’, but i f you look at their frequency response, there is a bit of a lift in level at the 15-16kHz region, but they actually tail off above this, and are around 3dB down from nominal at 20kHz.

As to NS-1000M versus MS150.2, I know where my money will still go…
