ItsameMikeBRONZE MemberHello!
I’ve just replaced the tape deck belt and was excited to play cassettes again! Unfortunately only left channel forks as of now. Wiggling the tape doesn’t make it come back so it doesn’t seem like an alignment issue. I remember it working well when I got this system a few years ago, but the belt broke down and deck stopped working.
The other thing is, that after playing 15 mins of Whitney Houston, played audio kinda fizzled down, got quieter and less detailed, like playing through plastic foil or something.
I couldn’t find many topics beside belt replacements, does anyone know what may be the issue? Old capacitors? Worn out chip? What should I diagnose and replace?

ModeratorHi
Yes, capacitors are a problem at a moment or another.
But before, maybe you should carrefully check connections and the cable with all the tapehead wires.
I assume you have correctly clean all the contact parts and you tried with different cassettes, right?
Good luck.
