I think Rich product pages Is a great idea.

We are looking at something like the following, if there are any other details that you feel could be added then please let me know.
Beolink could also be added to the relevant pages, something along the lines of Masterlink etc.

I think that is good – you possibly could add that the 4004 was really designed for the 2400 system with a proto datalink system to allow remote control of the record player. One of the bits I still have ! Along with the 4001 🙂

It is difficult though as the majority of younger people will not want the old Hi-Fi systems – the new 4000c is obviously a very niche product though a splendid one – and are more likely to use standalone speaker devices – to be honest, this is what I now use most often as you can just ask for what you want and it is delivered rather that looking for CDs, tapes or LPs.

Therefore the market for Beoworld is less than it was at its height – not the forum dying, more the users! However I would agree that if I wanted to ask a question about B&O, Beoworld would be my first port of call.

I am not as active here as I have been, I must admit.
Down from about a dozen posts a day to a few per month.
Discussions are now spread all over the net, which is a shame, I think.

I am not on Facebook. Never was and probably never will be.
    I never visited Discord.
Every B&O enthusiast has his own forum now, it seems. Or Facebook page or Instagram or …or…or…
Having to visit hundreds of places to get information or help is frustrating and it is wasting time looking
everywhere instead of one place – and keeping track of where what happens, where did I ask the question etc. – oh no, it’s not for me.
Better to concentrate than to water out in my opinion.

We don’t have many dicussions about products within my scope of interest here.
I don’t care for TVs, I don’t care for video products more or less as a whole. I don’t care for home automation
and I have very little interest in apps.
I know next to nothing about the newer products, and I don’t service them.
I don’t feel the need to make things complicated – just for the sake of doing that – when it can be done simple.
I actually wrote a longer piece about this a while ago, but decided not to post it, as it was more or less just my own
reflections and not really particularly helpful.

I hope not as I have just returned and signed up for Silver Membership. I had a brief spell of non B&O products but couldn’t live with them.

I did look at other forums but in my opinion this one is best – the others are either trying to sell stuff, complain or bragging about what they have. My interest is in classic and modern B&O, but I can only afford the classic! so this place is perfect as both are supported and discussed.

I agree with Martin – my interest was always in the audio equipment which is now not really available. I confess my most used piece is my Beolit 700 – splendid piece of kit – though not sure Martin would approve as I sprayed the case blue – I think it was mustard before though can’t remember! Thanks to Multicare I do have Beolab 5s which are stupendous but are attached to my Beovision 11 which is clunky compared to the LG sets we have elsewhere.

Interested that ajames’ favourite piece is the 9300 – my favourite design is the 9500 – which sits in what we call the playroom – actually have two of these but have the other on long term (permanent!) loan with a friend. The ability to use it with a Beolink 7000 is the advantage amongst other things. Slightly noisy transformer on mine but managing with use of squash balls!

… if I wanted to ask a question about B&O, Beoworld would be my first port of call.

Me too. I abandoned the Discord B&O channel several months ago. It got too cluttered with not-very-informative, often lengthy commentary about systems that others own which, frankly, is of no interest to me although I accept that others are interested in this topic.

I also got fed up with the many (unresolved) requests (including mine) for B&O (who supposedly ‘dial in’) to fix the multitude of problems with their devices or their App. The latter has started to improve, finally, after a long, long period of inconsistency, loss of functionality and, general sloppiness. It still isn’t as good or attractive as it was a few years ago. I’m still using v5.3.1 on my MacBook. Love it! I think normal people are now up to v6.6-something…

In my opinion, this forum here is the go-to for information and advice about B&O systems. Hat off to the guys who administer it and to the diligent members who stand guard!

Yes, I love the 9300 design, although I don’t actually own one at the moment – but maybe one day I’ll get another. I had a 9500 too at one point but I found it slightly muffled – I think that was my machine rather than indicative of anything. These days I just play vinyl and stream but I am coming round to wanting a CD player since Apple won’t let me play some of the albums I purchased on iTunes – If you have the CD you can play it forever more or less!

I also had a Beolit 700 and worst than spraying them Blue, which would look good, I sprayed them Pink – as a present for my sister I hasten to add – I thought it looked terrible but better than the mess the panels were in – she loved it!

Hello, for what it’s worth I find this forum the calmest and most thorough place to discuss B&O and to resolve niggles with the euipment I enjoy at home.
I’m quite old fashioned I suppose – I still play tapes, records and cds daily. And I play FM radio too. I have a small collection of my favourite music systems and I love my Beovision 7.

I’ve tried the Faceplace group and find it a very scattery and inconsistent place. Lots of ego and lots of slagging B&O off – from what I can see mostly by people who don’t have any passion for the brand.

Beoworld is an excellent resource and a glorious library of interesting projects and documented resolutions to common problems.

I would love to see a rebirth of ‘web forums’ – I think enough time has passed for people to realise that open social media platforms often encourage the nay-sayers and the discourteous to flourish.

Please keep on with developing our beloved Beoworld.

This is my 700 – I was correct, was mustard coloured.

Thank you to B&O Dude for sparking this important conversation, and to everyone who’s shared their candid observations and memories.

Several members, including Severed_hand_of_skywalker, have described the forum as “dying a slow death” with noticeably reduced engagement compared to more active channels such as Discord. At the same time, contributors like Millemis remind us that while social-media groups can be lively, they often lack the depth and permanence our forum provides—particularly for troubleshooting older B&O equipment. It’s disappointing to see other channels recommended in place of our own community.

Evan highlighted how our format uniquely supports living project threads—from Centa Penta build logs to restoration diaries—that simply don’t translate to Facebook or Discord. Meanwhile, Chris T observed that the slowdown in new product releases over the past decade has naturally led to fewer fresh topics here.

Reflecting on our roots, Peter reminded us how this forum grew into a go-to resource for B&O enthusiasts worldwide, powered by shared passion and expertise.

As you may know, it’s just over a year since Multicare assumed ownership of BeoWorld. Thanks to our site sponsors and paid memberships, we’ve been able to keep the prize draw running and organise factory visits, which we hope to hold annually (or at least biennially). We continue to work behind the scenes to bring further improvements to BeoWorld.

    In development

    Archive migration

We’re diligently copying archived forums into the current platform so no valuable discussion is lost.

    Rich product pages

A revamped layout for product pages, offering detailed information on each model and automatic links to others sharing the same attributes (colour, date, designer).

    Forum redesign

A refreshed layout for easier navigation, improved readability and greater engagement

    Custom performance plugins

Gradually replacing third-party plugins with our own bespoke versions to boost site speed and reliability

    Member input

We’d love to hear from you: what would you like to see from BeoWorld? How can we make the site more appealing, interactive and valuable for everyone?

We’re committed to preserving what makes this forum special. Please continue to share your thoughts below, and let’s work together to restore BeoWorld to its rightful place as the premier home for Bang & Olufsen enthusiasts.

Great news to hear that you are putting effort to migrate the old forums into the current platform which will include a wealth of knowledge. Having been involved in long term community forum myself I truly feel the pain and any jump in forum without being able to keep the historical threads kills any community short term but usually comes back on track again. But several mentioned there are other variables which can make forum fade out and one way would be to “capitalise” on the old forums use some of the thread content to insightful articles. A few years ago there was a thread which focused on integrating multiply generations of link system to interact were I manage to get the my Beosystem 6500’s Beogram 6500 to be able to be used via my other B&O equipment through out the house via beolink to masterlink over to netlink and play vinyl via my Beovision 10 and BL8000. Something which always amazed any visitor who had a tad interest in music.

Also to echo Millemissen – Facebook and Discord and other similar platforms are just a nightmare to search and and often can’t be indexed as it not public available. So still from that perspective big fan of forums (old school and like Small Machine forum).
