Fully restored Beogram 8002 with a MMC1 connected to a Cambridge Audio Alva Solo preamp -> BeoSound Stage via 3.5mm Aux-In. I have a Beoremote One as well.
How can I control my Beogram 8002 using my Beoremote One?
Components I would need:
1× 1611 DataLink Converter ?
1x ML/MCL Converter? Is this a “Passive amp/Pre-amp”? If so can I connect it to Beosound Stage?
1x PowerLink going to IR Eye? Will Beoremote One connect to this?
I really want this functionality PLEASE help advise what all components l will need to make it happen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
21 May 2022 at 22:05 #34971Your BeoSound stage manages remote commands only via BT, HDMI or Ethernet and your 8002 needs a wired datalink signal coming from a Master system. From my knowledge your BeoSound does not have a source Master system interface nor do those ML and MCL components. The Master system is what decodes the output of your Beoremote One IR commands into the datalink control signals the 8002 receives via its DIN connector.
The other issue you have is that you need to get the DL signal into a Master system component which do not pass through your phono preamp as they have their own DIN signal pins.
22 May 2022 at 00:15 #34972Thanks so much for your quick response and details. I am a bit disappointed that there is absolutely no option. I will hope someday Bang & Olufsen will release an upgrade kit for the Beogram 8002. It is a magical machine and a true marvel of quality design and audio engineering.
22 May 2022 at 00:56 #34973I would not hold my breath given that B&O is out of the turntable business. You might try contacting Rudy over at https://beolover.blogspot.com/2015/01/beogram-40024004-apple-remote-controls.html and see if you can convince him to come up with an 800x version. I have the one for my 4004.
22 May 2022 at 11:40 #34974Hello MOONMAN,
I would believe it is possible with a BeoMaster that has an MCL connection. You can then use a BLC (BeoLink Converter NL/ML) to link to the BeoSound stage.
It would be quite a chain:
BeoGram 8002 – (optionally pre-amp with datalink) – BeoMaster – Converter 1611 MCL/ML – BeoLink Converter NL/ML – BeoSound Stage
With a BeoMaster with built in pre-amp (some BeoMaster 4500s have that), you could skip a box (I am not sure if more recent BeoSounds that have a MasterLink connection can control BeoGrams through their AUX sockets). It will also require some persistence to program the BLC. But unless I oversee something I believe it could work.
See this link: https://bangolufsenassistentgohe.blob.core.windows.net/manuals/APPS_AND_ACCESSORIES/BEOLINK_CONVERTER_NL.ML/BeoLink_Converter_sheet.pdf
They are only available second hand. In the Netherlands they go for 200-300 euro.
22 May 2022 at 14:10 #34975@Mark-sf Thank you so much for your quick reply. Yes, I am already aware of the remote by beolover. I reached out to him couple of months ago and he said it was an interesting idea and may consider at some point.
22 May 2022 at 14:14 #34976@Tignum Thank You! I am so impressed by this forum that there are so many who are offering help. I will start my first phase of this project by researching and gathering each of the components you mentioned and I will reach out to B&O about the Masterlink capability for the BeoSound Stage.

As far as I know only the Ouverture (Beosound 4000) has both datalink and masterlink. But of course the Ouverture has no RIAA amplifier (which the 8002 needs). If using a separate RIAA amp you would need to be sure that the datalink signal is passed to the correct datalink pin, as explained in this thread (see post by joeyboygolf): https://archivedforum.beoworld.org/forums/t/41586.aspx
25 May 2022 at 17:55 #34978I had a BG6002 hooked upto a Beomaster 5500 (I think) that had the preamp built in and the tape out took care of any issue with a phono preamp – you can use a remote eye I think with this receiver so it could be hidden away – you only really need to it control the Beogram and act as a phono preamp?
25 September 2022 at 09:43 #34979Mark-sf, what if you ditch the necessity for controlling through IR or Bluetooth and instead want to control the Beogram through Beoremote Halo?
This way you won’t need the Beomaster to read and interpret IR signals. Will the combination Beogram -> Beolink COnverter-1611 -> NL/ML converter to Stage or other NL-based Beosounds?
The underlying question is, Do the Datalink signals differe when comparing signals from a Beogram from the ones from a Beomaster?
25 September 2022 at 18:31 #34980Sorry, I don’t have experience with the Beolink products that came later to answer.
