BRONZE MemberI’ve scanned and uploaded the 83/84 B&O catalog to archive.org: https://archive.org/details/bang-olufsen-high-fidelity-1983-1984
I have always liked the image on the cover! I’ve seen pics of another version of the same catalog with white background, added with title ‘Experiences’ on the top. I used the clean image from the catalog that I had, and recreated the titles as close as I could and printed myself an A4-sized poster of it. Looks pretty neat when framed.
The poster-versions of the cover are available as big PNGs in the archive with “BeO_cover_reproduction_black” and “_white”.png
Another B&O catalog cover that I would love to have in better quality would be the 84/85 with the subtitle ‘Freedom in time and space’ (this makes a lovely crossover to Doctor Who…), there is a link on related items on archive.org. I think the 80’s and early 90’s were the pinnacle of their catalogs!

Could you kindly share a direct link to the hires PNGs?
Also if you mind, a link to the poster you would like to have.
Thank you.

All covers being based on photos, the only way to turn them into a “averagely good” poster (say 40×60 cm) would be to have a very hi quality, hi res scan of the cover. because you need to cancel the dot matrix effect of the printing screen by blurring the picture and then sharpening it again. Another method would be to have an hi resolution photo shoot of the cover that “may” cancel that printing evidence.
I’ll look if I have in my catalog collection any of those and see what I can do. In the meantime could you tell me what poster size you would like ?
M.

BRONZE MemberI was perhaps exaggerating talking about posters, I meant just something printable in about A4 size, which would look neat in a simple frame (like the one I did). Just a high-res scan in something reasonable resolution would be nice.

It’s not 100% accurate but, I had that catalog reprinted and it does looks pretty good in A4-ish.
I replicate all the text so it should be crystal clear when printed.
Let me know…

BRONZE MemberThanks matador, this is already the best quality scan I’ve seen of that cover. I’ll see what I could do with it.
