CharlieWednesdayGOLD MemberI have got my hands on a pair of RL35s as part of a job lot I bought on eBay. They sound good to me, but I’m no audiophile. I’d like to take a look at the condition of the drivers within; my intention is to give them to a friend of mine as a gift, but I want to know they are okay first.
Problem is, I can’t figure out how to get the things open! There are two grub screws on the back which allow you to remove the straps, but I can see no other screws, so they remain tightly closed.
I did find a service manual online for the RL *000 range but it was missing the disassembly instructions for the RL1000 (which I believe are essentially the same e cabinet as the RL35s). It looks like once you have remove the straps, you should be able to lift the front cover off, but that does not want to come off, and I am afraid of damaging the cover in my attempts.
I’d appreciate any advice an any of you have ever opened these up before!

I always forget to check the old forum!
Yes, that did help thanks. I just needed to be a bit more confident levering the covers off – they were stuck fast, probably never having been removed before. Happy to say the drivers are in great condition now I’ve checked them.
