I have a Beosystem 5000 with turntable, cassette player and remote master panel. I am considering purchasing a CD 5500 to add to the system. I know the CD 50 is compatible, but does the Cd 5500 work with Beosystem 5000 and will the remote panel operate it ?
The internal protocols for both the BM5000 and CD5500 are based on Datalink ’80, so it should work fine. That being said, the CD control on the MCP5000 remote is a wee-bit unrefined for accomplishing things like individual track indexing, if memory serves. But it does work.
In addition, if I remember rightly, the track time display is on the CD50 itself, but this information would normally be shown on the MCP5500 on a full 5500 system. Hence I don’t think you can view track time anywhere if you use a CD5500 with an MCP5000.
