    Hello,

I have a BeoSound Ouverture Type 2639 I purchased in Japan circa 2000, so it is a 100V/50-60Hz/32W system. When I returned to the USA, I bought some hefty step-down power supplies for this unit and their speakers.

A day ago, I went to turn on the CD player, and the Ouverture didnโ€™t respond. The doors didnโ€™t open. The Bed 4 RC has no effect. I verified RC is enabled. I checked the power supplies – all fine. I took it apart and checked all five fuses – all fine.

I did see that the red light was on. However, at one point, the red and green light was on, but the unit still didnโ€™t respond. Also at one point, the white light was on, but it was flickering, and becoming dimmer at various times. At other times, no white light at all.

Has anyone seen this before? Could this be a PS capacitor/s issue? I saw some references to replacing some caps.

Other questions if I ever get this unit working:
    – Can the radio frequencies be change from Japan to USA without replacing the module?
    – Can the PS interface be modified to accept 120V instead of 100V?

    Thank you for your help!
    Tony

I can’t help with the overall problem, however I had a quick look at the Service Manual (avail on Beoworld to Silver and Gold members) and it would appear that you can change the voltage by re-wiring the transformer, and the tuner variant (Japan to USA) can be changed by cutting (or perhaps re-instating) certain jumpers on the tuner board.
