It may be the battery, but I want to be sure before I try to replace it!

I stopped using my Beosound Moment about a year ago because I got a used Beosound 5, which is a better design, and looks great alongside my Beosound 9000 and Beogram 4500.

However, I decided I would like to use the Moment again recently as I’d like to use it to play my Deezer playlists.  Since last year I have also changed my old Beovision 7 for a Beovision 11, and I know that the Moment should integrate with the BV11 quite well, as they are of the same generation.

However, when I plugged it in, I only got the B&O logo, then the moving colours that usually show on startup, then the screen went blank before going off completely.  If I remove the tablet from the dock and replace it, the same thing happens.

I removed the back cover and was able to view the setup menu briefly, and it did say battery level was 0%, but I was only able to see that briefly before it powered off again, and I have not been able to get the setup menu to show again since then.  I’ve left it on the dock for a few hours to see if a good charge makes any difference, but it remains the same.

Even though the screen is off I continue to get the haptic feedback and the clicking sound if I touch the wheel.

I have tried resetting the tablet using the pinhole reset button but it made no difference. I have not tried resetting the whole thing using the two buttons on the back of the dock, as I’m afraid that if it loses power during a factory reset, it could end up bricked.

If it is the battery then so be it – I’ve seen YouTube videos on how to replace it (looks delicate, but possible), however just in case anyone has any other tips so I can be really sure it is the battery before I try to get that back off!

I think you should remove the wooden cover and replace the battery. A new battery doesn’t cost much, and the replacement process is straightforward. It might just start working again—in which case you’d be in luck. Leave the wooden cover off for a moment to test it. If it still gets stuck in a loop, you can try resetting it using the buttons or by following the method described in this thread.
