BRONZE Membermain unit Beosound 9000
main zone 1x Beolink passive via powerlink
2 rooms
2x BeoLink Passive with BeoLink IR receiver via Masterlink
main room works fine.
issue I have is If both Beolink passive are plugged in with masterlink then one of them is not responding to beolink ir receiver (eye)
if i unplug one of them other one does works fine.
that got me into thinking reprogramming eye with beo4 remote with no luck atm
as i said if all is plugged in then one is working 100% and other remote lights coming on but not responding – play button stays RED after pressing it.
any ideas?

Have you tried swapping the IR sensors between the two passives, to see if the fault follows?
I would suspect cabling of one of the IR eye’s to be either incorrect or disconnected, either inside the sensor itself, or inside the DIN connector.

BRONZE MemberHey Guy
yes tried that if I plug IR sensors alone they work in both amps but if they both connected then one doesn’t work.
one guy that does work with B&O suggested program eye via boe4 tried that with no luck so far. its like its not switching to input or source. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0beSPkFx2lgbK2WGc-l0QIf3w

- Power down the complete system (unplug from mains, including main room BS9000 and Passive).
- Unplug all the ML connections.
- Make sure all the ML plugs are clean and undamaged and that there is no dust or fluff inside the sockets.
- Reconnect the ML cables
- Power the system up again.
- Re-do the option settings (put the main room in A.OPT 1, and each link room in L.OPT 6). If you need instructions for this, let me know.
Then try control again.

(I only ask this because you have a Passive in the Main Room, but I assume that this is just acting as an amplifier and should only be connected to the BS9000 by a Powerlink cable)

BRONZE Membercorrect passive in main room connected from bs9000 by powerlink acts as amp…
ML is direct from bs9000 to both or passives in other room. when only one is plugged in that room works when i plug 2nd one only one works. if i only plug 2nd one 2nd one works with no issue. I think its going to be something to do with L.OPT… I’ll try tmr nights

BRONZE MemberHi in my personal use I try to use the Beolink passive with the powerlink but its no work, do you know if I need to program the Beolink passive with Beo 4?

This should work fine without any programming of the Passive. Make sure that nothing is connected to the ML socket or IR socket of the Passive, and you should also use a fully wired MK2 PL cable.
EDIT: I just saw that both Steve and Matador had commented in the other thread – at least we are consistent with our advice!

BRONZE MemberHi,
I have a similar issue. I have a 9000 connected to a passive and ir eye. The IR eye and passive were working fine.. then… I used my BEO5 to turn on my Samsung tv. After this my eye no longer responds to the remote or touch (ie using the buttons on the eye). I have unplugged everything a million times and replaced the cable for the eye. Any ideas? Thanks

I would not suspect the use of a BEO5 remote to have changed anything.
Are you using the BEO5 remote for the room with the Beolink Passive or do you have another B&O remote in that room?

BRONZE MemberI also have a beo4 remote which I prefer to use. Bizarrely, the IR eye will not respond to either remote however, if I hold done the red “off” button on the remote for about 5 seconds the red light on the IR eye blinks..

One thing that could have happen in the link room is that the option settings was changed and affects how it receives IR commands. You can try to set the option for the link room again with the BEO4 by following this procedure:
- Be sure that the entire system is in standby
- Hold down standby + list on the BEO4
- The text in the display should change.
- Press the list button until OPTION is shown in the display and press GO
- Press list until LINK is shown in the display, then press 6 and GO
- The red LED on the IR eye should blink once to confirm it has received the change
Try to see if this makes a difference

GOLD MemberHard to say what it could be then
Do you have any other link rooms and are they working?

BRONZE MemberNo. I have tried rewiring everything many times. The passive is in the same room as my 9000 but it didn’t affect it previously. I can only think it is an issue with the master link cable not sending a message from the passive back to the 9000?

Ok, just to be sure do you also have speakers connected to the BS9000 or only to the passive?
If you have speakers on both could you control them separately before?

BRONZE MemberI have attached some beolab 3 to the 9000 and they work fine.

GOLD MemberOne more follow up question. When it worked did both the 9000 and the Beolink Active start when you activated a source like CD?

BRONZE MemberNo, I could use them independently of each other. I ultimately disconnected the beloabs. It is a mystery eh!
12 November 2025 at 09:34 #71106Madskp
GOLD MemberCan you explain how you used them independently. If you were to play a CD for example. I asume you would have to use an other command for one of the zones?
