A couple of years ago, one of our neighbours powered a neighbourhood party with an A2 at the time when it were new on the market and it sounded fantastic. I guess it was green with gold or copper. So recently, I seized the opportunity to buy a nice black one in perfect condition.
Awesome sound! At first, I could not connect it to the App. Upon further research, I found out that devices, which have not been updated continuosly, have to be updated with the Beoplay Software Updater, before they can successfully be connected to the current App. To do this, I had to loosen the speaker grille on one side. There you will find a Mini USB input. I connected the unit with my iMAC via USB-A to Mini USB and downloaded the Beoplay Software Updater from the B&O website. Upon starting the procedure I was lead through all steps. There is a video included which shows how to carry out the complete procedure. Very well made! After the update ended, it was possible to connect the device to the App without any problems. I guess, the guy who owned the A2 before never used the B&O App, only direct bt streaming, and never performed an update.
In the App, the possibility of stereo pairing shows up. Now, my question is, if it is not only possible to pair an A2 with an A2, but conducting the same with an A2 and an A2 active? Is the active the same as the A2 and differs only regarding the connections (USB-A with separate power supply vs. USB-C incl. power supply)? or is it a “real” different successor of the A2, meaning a “A2 gen 2”, like the A1 vs. A1 gen 2 and A1 gen 3? First case should make it possible to pair, second case most likely not? Maybe someone already tried?
Kind regards,
Rolf

I haven’t tried but always understood that it is not possible to pair and A2 with an A2 Active.
I think that question has been asked before but the Archived2 Forum doesn;t appear to working at present.
I did find this article which states they cannot be paired: https://www.pocket-lint.com/speakers/news/bang-and-olufsen/139368-b-o-play-a2-active-is-the-a2-on-steroids/

I searched through Google but nothing appropriate came up, also not from beoworld archived forums.

Thanks a lot for hinting me to this article, that is confirmation that it will not work. A pity, because I thought of buying an additional A2 Active, complimenting my A2, Stereo pairing it.
Thank you for your support Guy!
Kind regards,
Rolf
