BRONZE MemberHi all,
I’ve received a Beoplay V1 40 from a friend, but it doesn’t respond to the remote. I’m a longtime B&O fan, so I’m hoping to find a way to get this TV to work again.
I’ve read stories of broken parts, connection lost with the remote, software update issues… Maybe it’s not a very stable TV software wise and all that, but I don’t know, I want to give it a go.
The store owners told us that the panel need to be replaced, but I highly doubt that.
I’ve been able to find the TV in the B&O app (while connected over ethernet), which is a good sign I think! Then I can push the remote buttons in the app, but that doen’t do much… But… when I push the power button, I can see the leds glowing (although no image). That’s why I think the panel is ok.
Could it be possible that I need to connect the Beo4 remote again? I’ve read that someone had succes with a certain button combination saying “config” and stuff like that. First attempt from my side was not succesful, but I’ll keep trying.
Any tips here? What could be the problem? Is there a part that needs to be replaced?
Thanks for any help,
Benjamin

GOLD MemberYou might wan’t to take a look at this thread https://forum.beoworld.org/forums/topic/beoplay-v1-not-turning-on/ where I did end up repairing one with a similar issue. It seems like a leeaking super capacitor can make some issues in the circitry for the IR receiver. However I ended up scratching the board by removing the super capacitor so had to go through some hardcore micro soldering, but if you are lucky the issue might be solvable by cleaning the affected area and replace the super capacitor.
When you say you do not see an image does that mean that it is not even showing the little source text in the top of the screen when it is turned on by the app? Or are you maybe able tho change source to see if something else is showing af picture. If nothing is showing your V1 might also have other issues.

BRONZE MemberHi!
Thanks for your reply. I don’t see anything changing when choosing a different source. There isn’t anything showing up. The only thing I see is the green led lights up (normal, no blinking) and you can see the screen is glowing but not showing any content. So I see a faint black screen. No succes with Beo4 (2 different remotes) even after trying the config trick.
I still believe there is life in this TV, but I don’t know what part or procedure is the problem. Any ideas?

GOLD MemberWhen it is turned on try to use a flashlight close to the screen to see if anything is showing on the screen. If so it could be a backlight issue.
To be sure there is something to see on the screen you can adjust the volume with the app. The current volume level should show up in the middle in top of the screen

BRONZE MemberThanks for the tip, but I don’t see anything there. I would think it’s not the screen but the video engine that’s the problem? Is that possible?
I hope I can do something when I receive the original remote 🤞
I’m also searching for a technician in Belgium who’s willing and able to inspect the device 🙂
Thanks for your help!

I have only had the remote control issue on my V1, so no experience with video engine/panel problems.

I am not sure that would make much difference since it should react to any BEO4 and or Beolink 1000 remote.
One thing you could try though with one of your BEO4’s i to set the options settings for the TV to 1 (if it is in option 0 it will no respond to IR signals) by pressing and holding the LIST and • buttons, then repeatedly pressing LIST until “OPTION?” appears on the display, pressing GO, and finally scrolling with LIST to select V.OPT and pressing 1 to confirm.

BRONZE MemberOk! I’ll try that and let you know how it went!
My friend has the other newer remote (I forgot the name).
Thanks again!
