I have now rearranged my entire setup, abolishing MCL and going for Masterlink. The Beomaster 7000 has had a 6V capacitor replaced, and alll the loudspeakers – Pentas, 4500, and 3500 are gathered in one room.

The plan is to get rid of the CXs and the bass unit upstairs, and use the 4500 with the Beocenter 2000 that I have installed upstairs, using this as an entirely separate system.

I know that the 4500 are OK, since I have them connected to the Beomaster 7000 right now, as passive speakers. I also know that the 3500 is all right, since I tested that with the Masterlink.

Now here is the problem: In spite of everything else working, I cannot get any sound, except for the initial click, out of the Pentas. They work fine with the Beovision 7, and I have connected that via Masterlink to a 1614 box, which is then connected to the AUX on the Beomaster.

The settings on the system are OPTION 2 on both A and V, and I am not sure about the SPEAKER setting, having tried 1,0, and 2, but the display on the Beomaster gives no indication, just a noncommittal blink.

ChatGPT insists that there must be something wrong with the AUX cable.

Oh, and I unscrewed two pins on the DIN from the Beogram 7000, and now can’t find them. You would not by any chance know where such can be acquired?

Hopefully someone else can help with the rest of your questions, but in the meantime:  https://www.dksoundparts.com/product/datalink-pin-for-remote-control-communications-din-cable/

Hello – regarding this Penta problem, if they’re connected to the Beovision they ought to be set to ‘video’ on the switch underneath the amplifier module. If they’re connected to the Beomaster they ought to be set to ‘audio’ via the same switch underneath the amplifier module.

Regarding the connection via the 1614 box, assuming Pentas are connected to the Beovision, check the following details:

    1. Power everything off
    2. Complete all connections
    3. Power on audio and video products
    4. Power on 1614 box last
    5. Set audio option to ‘0’ (zero)
    6. Set video option to ‘2’

Note: you may need a fully wired cable from the 1614 box to the Beomaster ‘Aux/TV’ socket.

Let us know how you get on.
