I am trying to connect a Beolink Converter NL/ML to a Beosystem 7000. I have programmed the converter and then tried it out on a Beocentre 2 connected via ML. It worked just fine. But I need a converter to connect to the 7000 system? ML-DL? I had a 1614 converter that I know works just fine historically but this would not convert these signals. So I have just purchased a 1611 as this is the required converter. Still no joy! I have swapped out power leads and datalink leads and powerlink leads. I have tried putting the 7000 into every mode. Still nothing! ‘Anyone have any ideas?
3 February 2025 at 14:11 #63366Is the datalink cable a fully wired 7-pin? And is it definitely connected to the AUX/TV socket of the BM7000 and the AAL socket of the BL1611?
I don’t think that the Powerlink cable is required in this setup – it’s probably worth disconnecting in case it is causing a conflict.

Via the Beocentre 2 I know the required signals are getting to the end of the ML cable. But it is going wrong from 1611 converter to Beomaster 7000?
I now suspect the 7000 is in a wrong mode somehow but I have tried them all. ‘Very odd?

My main worry was that it may be in the wrong socket on the back of the Beomaster – there are so many DIN connections that it can be hard to locate the TV/AUX when fumbling around blind

The A.OPT of the Beomaster should have no effect here, but I would probably leave it on A.OPT 1 so that you can use a remote, or A.OPT 2 if you wanted to also control video sources distributed by the NL/ML converter.
A further thought: Have you tried connecting the BC2 to the BM7000 by ML? You could put the BC2 in A.OPT 6 thus pretending that it is in a Linkroom, and then see if you can control the BM7000 from it.

This will not be the case for the BC2 if it is N.music compatible.

Am I correct: the NL system-BLC-BC2 (ML connected) does work correctly?
Though NL system-BLC-T1611-BS7000 doesn’t work? Were all devices unplugged from the mains when connecting the T1611? Did you connect every device to the mains and let the device completely startup, before you plugged the mains to the T1611?How is the BLC set (AMaster/VMaster/ASlave….)? Can you describe your complete setup?
FYI: I have a Beosystem 7000 DL and PL connected to a T1611, which is ML connected to a BLC. The BLC is setup as ASlave (because the Beosystem the only “ML device” (through the T1611) connected. The Beosystem 7000 can be started on all NL devices using BLI .

4 February 2025 at 09:59 #63385Thanks for the responses. It is so confusing. I tried the BC2 again and no issues at all. Without changing anything I connect to 1611/7000 and it’s dead!
I have tried all ML options. I have unplugged/depowered etc etc. Just nothing.
This is my setup…

4 February 2025 at 10:18 #63388I am pretty sure that the NL/ML Converter should not be set as A Master because this will conflict with the BM7000/BL1611 which is also acting as an Audio Master. Try V Master.
Location: Warwickshire, UKMy B&O Icons:4 February 2025 at 10:59 #63389Yes I am back to V. Master and just had it all functioning. Now nothing again!
4 February 2025 at 12:02 #63390Boy this is temperamental!
2 reboots of everything and it is up and working again. But I have had to connect the speakers to the Beoconverter which I did not want to do as I want to be able to control the 7000 independant of the NL connection too. I put a powerlink splitter in the connection so now it works but there is feedback and latency coming through!
4 February 2025 at 12:03 #63391If it’s an intermittent fault then it could well be an issue with one of the cables, or the connections to either BL1611 or BM7000. I think that you have tried two different 7-pin DINs, but maybe check that they are securely inserted, and also check the ML cable – make sure that the terminals are clean and that there is no fluff or dirt in the sockets.
Location: Warwickshire, UKMy B&O Icons:4 February 2025 at 12:04 #63392I put a powerlink splitter in the connection
Can you explain where? It’s not a good idea for Beolabs to have two different inputs.
Location: Warwickshire, UKMy B&O Icons:4 February 2025 at 12:52 #63393Splitter is inverted “Y” with one “branch” immediately coming from the BM7000, the other RJ45 from the converter and the stem off to the speaker. (BL50)
If there is a conflict wiring this way I wonder if I could leave the powerlink connected to the 7000 and connect the converter via USB or RCA to the speaker thereby choosing a different input?

Yes this is a conflict and I would strongly advise against using it in this way. (Effectively you have the output of the BM7000 connected direct to the output of the NL/ML – one may well damage/overload the other. Furthermore, the speakers could well be receiving an unusual (potentially damaging) dual input.)
The correct solution is to connect the speakers to the BM7000 and persevere to get the system working as it should!
Location: Warwickshire, UKMy B&O Icons:4 February 2025 at 18:32 #63402Still I have no clue what you want to achieve
Until now you only stated you want to connect/have connected a BS7000 to a BLC and you have BL50 connected to the BLC or the BS7000 (note: as Guy discribed do not connect the BL50 to both at the same time). So what is the advantage of a BLC in your setup?
