Dear Forum.
Is it possible to use a beolab 7-2 as a B&O multiroom speaker via the B&O app, and at the same time as a tv speaker? Which options do I have?As is I am using a hdmi arc extractor between my LG and the Beolab. It could be sweet also to use the speaker in a multiroom setup.
Thanks in advance.
Bo
My B&O Icons:9 February 2025 at 10:53 #63607I am not sure how you are triggering the Beolab at the moment – do you have a separate (maybe USB) 5V supply to turn it on?
One solution could be to add a Beosound Essence Mk2.ย Connect your TV hdmi arc extractor output to the Essence’s auto sensing line input, and connect the Beolab to the Essence PL output.

Does the essence have a wifi option? I have no lan.

Yes it will connect to wifi so you don’t have to use a wired network.
If you do get an Essence, make sure that you get a Mk2 which (unlike the Mk1) has support for NL/Beolink Multiroom.

thank You for responding. Which cable should I Shop for, if I only want my Beolab 7 to be connected with beosound Essence?

My B&O Icons:25 February 2025 at 16:01 #64028You should be fine with the following cable from one of the Essence’s RJ45 powerlink outputs to the BeoLab 7-2 Powerlink input, but please double check with Steve (at Sounds Heavenly) before ordering:ย https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/31-325-rj45-to-powerlink-compatible-all-in-one-cable-convert-new-2013-ethernet-powerlink-to-traditional-8-pin-din-powerlink.html#/9-length-18m
(My understanding is that the BeoLab 7-2 triggers on/off from Powerlink pin 4, in which case the above cable should work fine.)

The little note above the ‘disable delay’ box explains why you need to do this as follows: Sound from line-In connected sources is delayed in a Multiroom system. Therefore, when used with video content, picture and sound is not synchronized. The delay can be disabled, but sound from line-in can then not be distributed.ย
