BRONZE MemberHi everyone,
I’ve tried very hard to get a definitive answer to this and everyone seems to have a different opinion. I need an expert’s help.
I bought some Beolab 5000 Mk2 but now believe they may be Mark 1 and it’s difficult to find out for absolute certainty.
The serial number is ; 20866596, item number – 1850159, type number – 6643
They don’t have RCA inputs but I’m told that’s not conclusive since early Mark 2 didn’t.
Please help.

BRONZE MemberIt seems that the Serial number is one way of determining the Mk1 or Mk2 status but others tell me the RCA plug at the back is the true identifier. However, others tell me that the RCA input was introduced after the Mark 2 was in production so it’s difficult to get a definitive B&O ruling on this.

GOLD MemberHello david Sander,
They are BeoLab 4000s no? Another indicator is whether the status LEDs are switches (mk1) or just indicate status (mk2) check also https://beocentral.com/beolab4000.
According to Beoworld’s product section, the mk2 was introduced in 2007, and your serial number indicates that too.
Very versatile speakers in my opinion, and I really like how the wall-mounts work with the ribs for positioning.
