Strange… my B&O repairer (AV Services) say that B&O have an exchange programme for the chassis – it’s returned to B&O and they send a refurbished (and programmed one) back. I suggest you ask your dealer to talk to B&O.
3 December 2024 at 21:32 #61324I have a set of Beolab 5’s which were both repaired (with refurbished main chassis) in December 2021. One of these now has again a defect, it picks up AM noise on the tweeter only. Currently the main chassis replacement has doubled in price compared to 3 years ago and delivery times are apparently more than 6 months. Combine that with a good chance a board will fail again soon (they are filled with Elco’s) I am reluctant to go the official route again.
My B&O dealer gave me a modest trade inn value on 28’s and a very good trade in value on 50’s, in fact that was more than the price I paid new for the 5’s. But even with that trade in value I still have to pay 40k Euro for a set of 50’s and that is beyond the divorce amount. So, maybe I can repair them myself?
Edit:
The PCB6, B&O – Beolab 5 Ice system1 has a failure and it is available online at kosetrading for 650 Euro. But the failure is probably a small smd component costing less than 1 euro.
is there anyone who can help me repair them?
any help is appreciated,
thanks,
Eric.
