Beogram 5500 – starting points issue

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some help on an issue with my Beogram 5500.  I bought it renovated, but unfortunately, the string drive anchor point (the “H” point, per service manual) broke off. I managed to fix it with a bolt&nut (ad interim!), but the starting point is now way off.

Basically, the player starts approx. 2cm inwards, as opposed to the outer rim of the record.
I tried the adjustments, as stated in the service manual.. but with no luck. The tone arm maximum outer position is just not far enough.. it gets stopped by the physical mechanism (the “G” arm). Rotating the “E” eccentric also doesn’t seem to be doing anything.
