EDIT: This has been resolved. For future reference – the issue was a combination of two factors:
      1) Incorrect install of the wire drive – for the duration of the install, the “A” wire pully must be kept in the max counter-clockwise position (turn until stop), otherwise the mechanism and the “A” pully will be fixed in a wrong final position, resulting in fatally incorrect pickup points.
      2) Spooling of the wire around the “B” eccentric screw: ย I feel that this must be done strictly per service manual (i.e. under, around and then towards “A” pulley). I originally assessed that the wire is not long enough to make it all the way back to the original mount point, therefore I tried spooling around “B” differently – but that only resulted in an obstructed path for the wire, potentially causing malfunctions of the tone arm movement. When spooled correctly, the wire seemed very short, but the spring could handle the tension at the end of the circuit.

      Hello everyone,

Iโ€™m looking for some help on an issue with my Beogram 5500. ย I bought it renovated, but unfortunately, the string drive anchor point (the โ€œHโ€ point, per service manual) broke off. I managed to fix it with a bolt&nut (ad interim!), but the starting point is now way off.

Basically, the player starts approx. 2cm inwards, as opposed to the outer rim of the record.
I tried the adjustments, as stated in the service manual.. but with no luck. The tone arm maximum outer position is just not far enough.. it gets stopped by the physical mechanism (the โ€œGโ€ arm). Rotating the โ€œEโ€ eccentric also doesnโ€™t seem to be doing anything.

photos/video attached – not sure if something is wrong? Or how to fix? Could anyone please help me out?

      thank you!
