Hi, this is my first post and I’m new to the forum. My wife’s friend has the Beogram 2402 and said the arm is skating across the record. She hasn’t used it for some time, has just tried to use it after a number of years and has had it since the mid 80’s. I’ve never owned a B&O but I am familiar with turntables having owned a few in the past such as Linn and Michel, however, electronics and fettling are not my strong point.
I looked at some similar responses to the same problem on this forum so this afternoon I’m going to look at the stylus, check the tracking force by taking it back to zero and re setting it. I believe re lubing the lifting mechanism might help but as it isn’t my turntable I’m reluctant to start taking it apart to access this. If having looked at it I can’t fix it can anyone recommend a reputable company if she wants to get it working again. Thanks in advance for your responses.
Sorry also posted in general section, still finding my way around.

1 October 2024 at 11:46 #59652Thanks Mark. I brought the turntable and amp home to look at. The arm is now behaving and drops on both LPs and singles. There are no speakers but I’ve listened through headphones and the sound is pretty good. I need to alter the counterweight on the arm as it isn’t at the weight recommended in the manual to see if that improves the sound.
The other issue now is that when the arm drops on an LP the led red light is on the 33 speed but the record spins at 45, when I then press the 45 button it slows to 33 which is odd.
I also need to test somehow if the 33 and 45 speeds are accurate.
Any clues how I might put this right or test the speeds for accuracy
Thanks
