Hi,i have a Beocord 7000, the tape deck hasn’t been used for a long time but i would like to sell my system so i tried a tape in it. The heads engaged but now out does nothing but make whirring sounds so i assume the belts have failed. How do i go about replacing them or getting them replaced. I was told to ask for @dillen as he’s the guy to go to?

A bit difficult, and it really depends on which version of drive is fitted in your Beocord.
But basically it’s a matter of rotating the flywheels by hand (Beocord unpowered) until
        the tapehead bridge disengages.
Note that the two flywheels rotate in opposite directions; Left one clockwise, right one counter clockwise as seen from above.

        -And replace belts.
        Correct belts here.

Hi Martin, thanks for the reply. Is it fairly simple to do this, is there a good place to see photos or videos about it?

None that I am aware of.
You must take out the drive and rotate the flywheels by hand – or using some kind of suitable tool to carefully push them round.

Is it difficult to take out the drive. I’ve seen a video of the 5500 and he made it look very difficult.
