Hi all. Just bought a Beo 3000 and am trying to use the Aux port. No sound (just a tiny buzz for a second when the aux or volume buttons are pushed). I am using an RCA to 7-pin cable, with continuity at pin 2,3 & 5. Am I missing something here? Does B&O use pins 3&5 for Aux input? Everything works on a different amp, so its the 3000 that is the issue. CD and radio work perfectly. Remote works, although there us no Aux button. Any advice for me?

      Thanks, Randy

Assuming it is Beosound 3000 you mean?

The pin numbers are correct for AUX input, and that is the case for all B&O AUX inputs, so that should not be a problem.

what is your AUX source? A mobile device usually has to have the volume turned up to max for the best result.

just to be sure, have you double checked that you have connected the cable to the AUX connector and not a Powerlink connector?

regarding the remote button you should be able to use A.MEM or A.TAPE depending on the model of remote

Asa madskp says above, assuming it’s a BS3000 (check here) then it should work as described.  The usual problem is that people use a DIN output lead rather than input, but given that it works with another amp (with 5 pin DIN input?) then that should be ruled out.

If a BS3000, it could have a faulty keypad*.  Does the display actually show A.AUX when you press the keypad AUX button?  However, a faulty keypad shouldn’t stop the remote working, whereupon the display should show A.TAPE (or A.MEM) and open the aux input if you press that button on the remote.

          * With a faulty keypad, it is usually a complete button row or column that stops working, so it would be unusual if just the AUX button were faulty.

Hmm. The cord may still be the problem.  (I am not an electronics guy so everything i know about it should be double checked!)

I bought a female rca to male din cord online. I found a din wiring schematic online to test when it did not work. Maybe it’s backwards?

When looking at the end of the male din plug, divot down, are pins 3 & 5 on the left or the right?  The cord I have has them on the right

Have a look at the very first diagram in this excellent thread ?: https://www.hifi4all.dk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=32157&PN=1

Looks like the one I have is reversed, the active pins should be on the left. I will source another and try it.

That sounds hopeful – come back and let us know if it works!

By the way, if you are using a Beo4 remote you can add A.AUX as a source to the LIST button.

To add it, on the Beo4:

                    – Press Power (On/Off button) and LIST together, the display should read ADD?
                    – Press GO.
                    – Press LIST until the display shows A.AUX. then GO.
                    – A.AUX should then be listed under LIST.

To use it, press LIST until A.AUX shows then press GO. A.AUX should appear on the BS3000’s display.

(Alternatively, just use the single button press A.TAPE or A.MEM as mentioned earlier!)

OK! The cable was the problem. It was an output cable not input. I soldered the wires to the opposite pins and it works as it should.
also, I followed the instructions for the List button and that worked too. Oddly the A.Mem button on longer shows A.Aux, it now shows A.Tape. Any tips on how to change this?

Thanks, by the way, for being a great resource! I live in the desert area of central British Columbia in Canada, where no-one has even heard of this equipment, so to have access to an international team of experts from multiple time zones is pretty nice

Great news that the input now works with the re-soldered lead – thanks for coming back on the site and letting us know.

It’s quite strange that the display has changed from what you previously saw – I don’t actually have a BS3000 so perhaps another Forum Member will confirm the behaviour of theirs?  Perhaps the software in the BS3000 is designed so that a ‘remote-initiated’ selection of A.AUX tells the system to assume that future selections of other audio sources are specifically not A.AUX.

Adding a function to the Beo4 LIST button should not change anything on the BS3000.  Maybe try disconnecting anything from the Aux socket, then turn the BS3000 off and temporarily remove mains power.  Then power it up and see if there are any changes (with the aux still disconnected).

What is displayed when you press AUX on the BS3000’s keypad?

A.MEM is just the updated name for A.TAPE as a B&O source – the IR command is identical.  The BS3000 does not have datalink so it cannot control a B&O tape deck via the aux socket anyway.

Many thanks for the compliment! Beoworld is indeed a great worldwide resource and it’s always nice to see new Members.
