    Hi,

just had a quick look at the latest BM 4400 I’ve acquired.  Generally it looks OK but I’ve noticed that the tuner needs re-stringing.

The string is intact but no longer passes through the wheels/pulley.

I also notice there is a spring which was attached to something that has broken off.

Does anyone have expertise in this area and can offer advice?

It’s the kind of mechanical fiddlyness that I know I’m terrible at, I do like to have a go though.

    Thanks in advance!

    Steve

A trawl of 4400 manuals has led me to believe that “Diagram (3955001)” and diagram “Dial cord (6271101)” are missing – if anyone has a complete manual I would be extremely grateful – cheers!

Found this on here, not sure how I missed it before – sounds pretty reasonable:

Take off the top cover, the tuning slider has some pins glued to the tuning string, probably the glue let loose or the pins are broken, or worst case the string is broken, If the string is broken, you will need a new one, If not, tune in to a known station, set the slider exactly to the stations Mhz, with epoxy or a strong glue attach the slider to the string.

I thought there was a manual in  the products section for the 4400….however when I look I can no longer find it? as I recall it gives the details required to replace the tuner string, I think I have one somewhere and will have a look for you.

I found a copy of the service manual on the Kose trading site (hopefully attached below), but it should be on Beoworld also – I will check with Multicare.

Multicare have now added the BM4401 service manual to Beoworld, and it can be found at the foot of this page:  https://beoworld.org/beomaster-4401/

Looking in the manual posted it doesn’t detail the cord arrangements for the unit, if you require any pictures let me know and I will post some in here…..I read the description in the products section or the 4400 and the mention of the 4401 which was described as having almost mythical status….this is a picture I posted 10yrs ago showing a 4400 I was restoring back then alongside a 4401 which was loaned to me for a while for a comparison between the two by founder member Peter…..who still posts here occasionally.

Peter knows of two that exist…..this one and another which may have been sold to someone in Portugal as I recall.
