Hi everyone,
I have a Beovision MX1500 at home but sadly I have lost the Beolink 1000 remote that came with it.
Luckily I have an old smartphone with IR blast integrated so I was hoping I could simulate the remote signal with my phone to turn on the TV. But none of the app I’ve found on the store seems to be working. I am starting to suspect that my phone doesn’t support a frequency as high as the 455kHz required by the TV receiver.
Do I still have a chance at being able to turn on my TV without the remote? Anyone has been through the same hassle? Besides, in my memory this TV is a bit particular and needs to be turned on by pressing the “TV” button instead of the usual Power one. Which makes it harder to simulate with my smartphone.
Thank you for your future help!
5 February 2023 at 05:24 #43556Correct, phones & PCs only support the 38kHz IR frequency everybody(!) else uses. A (used, now discontinued) Logitech “Harmony Hub”, using the old Harmony app, can shoot 455kHz by configuring it for whichever Beovision MX Logitech’s website supports. I used it with an MX5000. It’s annoying tapping on-screen buttons to change channels & volume, but they are there at least. But the MX5000 had a round red button on the lower right corner, which would power the TV on as well as off — provided you were satisfied to watch whatever it was last tuned to! Not on the MX1500?
I think you’re better off buying a used BeoLink 1000, than a Harmony Hub — or a Beo4, or even a new Beoremote 1 BT, though that’s awfully pricey just to save an old TV that will soon need power supply repairs.
5 February 2023 at 05:37 #43557I vaguely recall that pressing the power button slightly causes the TV to turn on. This is some sort of emergency mode in case you have lost the remote. A further slight press gets it to start searching for channels.
You could also try applying 5v to SCART pin 8 – this may turn on the SCART input.

I’ve read in different places that some of the MX models should have an extra button to turn it on but sadly this one doesn’t seem to have any other than the main button. I’ve also tried pressing the button gently but it doesn’t even feel like the button was designed for being pressed in different manners.
So I suppose I’m left with having to buy a replacement remote which don’t seem to be awefully expensive anyway.
Otherwise, could there be a way to make this work with an Arduino and a IR led? Or do you think I will face the same issue with the frequency being too high for what the Arduino can emit?
5 February 2023 at 12:16 #43560Oh interesting. I wish there were more details about this though, because I really can’t find any other button on the set.
5 February 2023 at 20:34 #43561I had an MX1500 and just to warn you, don’t get a Beo4. Mine could not be controlled with a Beo4.
Stoobie.

Hi and welcome to Beoworld!
It’s beyond my knowledge, but there was some stuff on the archived forum about the use of Arduino with B&O IR codes so you may wish to search there.
Here’s an example: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/11816/103211.aspx#103211

I inherited a Beomaster 6500 and bought two beolabs 8000 myself. I´m also interested in using an Arduino with IR as a possible remote. While doing some research, I found this Arduino Library on GitHub. It mentions the “Bang & Olufsen protocol” and it seems like it already has an implementation in place. On the hardware side of things, I´m not yet sure what is exactly needed and how hard it´ll be to build something reliable.

25 June 2023 at 21:52 #43564Thanks for the hint!
I started to research the topic and I´m currently tapping into the Datalink connection on Pin 6 of the TV/AUX using the GitHub project mentioned in this post. Let´s see how this will turn out.
