BRONZE MemberI have an ultrashort show projector from Philips (U4) with AUX out available for audio in our bedroom. There are a few Beoplay A8 available and I was thinking of using one for a main speaker for the UST projector.
- Would this work on a Mk 1 system
- Would I need to ‘power up’ the A8 or would it just work when it received an AUX signal from the projector
- Would the volume via the projector output work or would I have to change the volume on the A8
Any other thoughts/ideas for this setup. I have an original I-Pod which I could sit in the cradle to finish the look. I would love a Beosound 35 for this setup, but they are so hard to find. Any other ideas from the second hand market which others have used for something like this.
Thanks team!

BRONZE MemberI use my old Beoplay A8 for different test setup’s from time to time.
Once I had an Essence MK2 connected – a nice little setup!
The line-in there has autosense….it turns the A8 on, when there is sound coming.
It works well – some times it is a bit tricky, though.
.Basically you have two volume controls (maybe even 3, if you also have a source connected to the projector).
Best thing to do is to set the volume of the projector to fixed output or to a high start up volume…if possible.
And then control the volume of the A8.
Maybe you are lucky to get the small remote for it as well – or you can use a Beo4.The A8 is a good sounding ‘speaker’.
