• Re: BEOVISION ECLIPSE

Imagine if this was an LG-Branded TV instead of a "Beovision". LG Eclipse - "Powered by Bang & Olufsen" ("Powered" came to mind first and it's not the best word - but you get the concept). At 10K, the B&O sound center would be a digestible premium over the normal LG offering. They would sell this by the hundreds on day one. Instead, the lack of the standard Beovision features in the same B&O branded TV, at the same price, diminishes the product for us
You think? I'm really not sure you understand the "masses" if you believe this would cause hundreds of sales. Two reasons: 1) Most people I know think spending £800 on a soundbar to be a tonne of cash. Seriously. That's expensive for the average consumer. The soundbar

Exactly...how on earth can you do image processing NOT at the display level?
Didn't Sony have that laptop with the external GPU?
Yes I explained myself poorly. I mean it's up to the panel/display itself to actually show the frames sent by the source (and to the LG panel, the sound center is a standard HDMI source) perform the pull down, deinterlace, remove judder etc.

Exactly...how on earth can you do image processing NOT at the display level?
You can do imageprocessing on HDMI. Scalers for Home Cinema do that. But I don't expect this to be done by B&O in the Sound Center. /Lars
Correct, I was a bit too hasty in my response. Still, regardless of what the HDMI source processes before output to the sink, the display is still be able to screw everything up if has
For example, picture settings cannot be copied from one input to another (! i know!) - so with respect to the above, if you play around and find settings you like, you have to go through and re-set the settings for different HDMI inputs.
If calibration is done on the LG side, let's not forget that the Soundcenter is HDMI 2 for the panel. So no matter which devices you have connected to the sound bar (in my case it would be Mac Mini, a Canal+ STB and an
Yes, the easel stand was actually something I was expecting & looking forward to.
Good news indeed, for the design and for the few hundreds €/$/£ shaved from the Eclipse price. On a side note, I wonder if the Eclipse will work with the Beoremote App. On the traditional Beovisions, the app communicates bi-directionally with the TV. The way the eclipse has been assembled, I guess the app will only be able to get info from the B&O hardware, not
This confirms it: HDMI IN 1 & 3* The High Definition Multimedia Interface allows you to connect many different sources, such as set-top boxes, multimedia players, Blu-ray players, or a PC. To operate non-Bang & Olufsen products with your Bang & Olufsen remote control and for optimum sound quality it is recommended to connect products to the HDMI sockets on the SoundCenter. *HDMI 2 reserved for SoundCenter communication. I think the SoundCentre only uses
Now two days from release I wonder more about the specs than the design. Powerlink? Or only WISA? PUC control? HDMI Matrix and room sharing HDMI-solution? Movable stand? Gamma correction? And so on. Does anybody know?
Matrix support via update in Q4.
