  • Re: Beolab 4000 or Beolab 6000?

I have both. 6000 mounted against the walls, the 4000 in wall cabinets. The 4000's produce more and tight base, but the music IMHO sounds much better on 6000's. I would say the 4000's are punchy and a bit bright, the 6000 much better balanced - frankly for certain types classical pieces they rival my 8000's. I ended pairing my 8000's with a good Velodyne sub and they sound great. My 6000's are next to a room (large opening between rooms) with 12-2's and a BL11 - if I turn

  • Re: New House

Installers used a lot of Tyco stuff for interconnects from Cat7 etc... For hdmi - I opted to use distribution amps vs a matrix (still up in the air if I should have gone Matrix) - all Atlona since they have a relationship with B&O - and its one throat to choke :) I deviated a couple of times from Cat7 and used hdmi cables from bluejeans cables for the shorter runs esp. in my HT (to projector).

  • Re: BeoSound 5 - search function for Spotify released

Another user interface improvement.... If you have link rooms, the volume control does did not work on the BS5 (the logic was - which rooms volume does the bs5 change). I have a BV10 in the same room as my BS5 and this was annoying, since I had to find a remote to change the volume (Esp for the wife when I slip the remote in my pocket and walk around the house-opps). Now, you can control the volume in the room from the bs5 volume control... Thankfully - just a great usability function.

  • Re: BV11 software update?

Have both downloaded and working. Removed a host of problems when listening to my BS5 and BV11 and link rooms. Things just seem to work much better, before I had a lot of random problems. Time lag when playing audio seems to have disappeared (or at least reduced dramatically to the point I cannot notice - rooms are far apart) - which is fantastic

  • Re: Sub to pair with BL 8000.2

I have used an 8" Velodyne sub for 5yrs now with my 8000 (not 8002). I felt the lab 2 was quite powerful, but not as musical or tight as the Velodyne. The small Velodyne just rounded out the 8000's perfectly. I use a Velodyne SPL-800R which is no longer made, but has been updated since. I listen to music and tv on it, but mostly music. The sub comes with a microphone and has been configured using the room correction feature - sub is set to a level of 42(out of 99 I think). I have a lab 11

Here's what I'm doing- may answer a few questions regarding cat 7 - HDMI run over cat 7 where distances are over 40' or so and/or its near a set of B&O speakers or system (where I need Cat7 - see below) - PowerLink run over Cat7 for all speakers - MasterLink run over Cat7 (most converters in my av rack - except for BeoLab 3500) - NetworkLink run over Cat7 - IR - 4 IR links for PUCs over one Cat7 could use Cat6 - (but I had Cat7 on premises) - GigE over Cat7 - Beosystem3 - remote eye

  • Re: New House

That's what I have done. I should have all my cat 7 installed to all rooms and future locations done by the end of this week. Wireless was randomly unreliable... And was was just making me unhappy. So I just bit the bullet and bought a huge spool of cat 7,and had it run from my AV closet to all locations. Some of the ones I'm not using right now - those cables are buried behind Sheetrock and I have photographs showing where they are so they can fished out at a future date.

  • Re: New House

I went through this decision process a month back... I went into it thinking I could get away with wireless. Unfortunately my house is finished - except the basement (which is being finished right now). I am simultaneously in the midst of an install and B&O installers have run mostly cat 7 everywhere with cat 5 for IR. All the cables run to a rack I have in a conditioned closet under my stairs. We are connecting 8 rooms (including a HT) with 4 TV's, three systems - all B&O. They intend

  • Re: My first ML/NL product

I am using both Beomaster and Beosound 5. Dealer (summit NJ) has two sources running to one set of speakers and plans to do the same at my place. I will forget exactly how they will set this up. We had to do this so I could have music playing concurrently across my Beolabs and not incurious NL delay when using the Beovision 11. They are installing in early Feb. I will be there and let you guys know what components they used for the connectivity.
