  • Re: Horizontal movement in tangential tonearm?

Hi if your tone arm is starting to "do the splits" so to speak eg it will generally look parallel to the other arm give or take a couple of mm as it tracks across the record. Any more than this is a indicator that the Light Dependent Resistor is breaking down ie loosing its coating which would then bring up a excessive travel ( lateral pivoting of the tone arm. it's repairable but a very delicate job. • Re: Beocom 2000 handset: how to open?

The way to open this handset is "mechanically" if you are careful and have a bench vice wrap the handset in a microfibre cloth or similar then place the handset in vice speaker / ear set facing up and along the split line . you can apply gentle pressure and you will hear cracking as you go. personally i would use a non metallic scraper to help prize/open the split line so as to not damage the surface finish. use a TUBE of polystyrene model glue applied to the female portion of the handset

Hi Doug I have copies of the wiring hard diagrams for BS9000 Mk 1 dont try to do to detailed fault finding with Mk 3 Diagrams the Mk 3 PCB 3 power supply is a different beast to a Mk 1. you mention that the 3 fuses are ok on PCB 3 and you have approx 10VAC on P17 am i right in assuming you still have PCB 3 still in place? if so you need to take a deep breath and photo in as much detail as poss the connections onPCB 3 if its in situ you will only see about half of them. as it needs to come out to
