  • Re: My MCP 5000 just died all of a sudden !

The batteries seem fine. Can you check the voltage at TR52 collector, when you press any key or alternatively, short TP15 to metalwork? The manual is on site here if you upgrade your membership(good value)The details for the MCP are included with the Beomaster 5000 manual if you search. Nick

Yes indeed, and use good 'uns too,eg Varta,Duracell or Energiser. If you are in the UK,then I can recommend the Sainsbury's own brand batteries too.I understand that they are rebranded for Sainsbury's by Energiser, but they are less costly! Otherwise, there may be a problem with the power supply regulator, which rather cleverly,is normally in "sleep mode"but comes to life when a key is pressed. If the key board is faulty(common)it can confuse everything.Try pressing the most used

  • Re: Troubleshooting Philips CDM4/24 Laser in BeoCenter 9000

I'm just coming into this fascinating discussion as a latecomer to the party. There was indeed an issue with servo system "ringing"or more correctly instability. The notorious C2103 figured in the argument even then B&O were well aware of it when the units were still relatively new. I have some notes regarding this, but they are unfortunately buried in storage at the moment. There were several suggested "fixes",but often we just replaced the entire cd module,as customer

If the unit has been out of use for some time, the internal memory back-up battery may be exhausted? This can mean that the unit defaults to random settings,in particular, the balance control may be set all to one channel etc. Try pressing the "sound" button on your remote control,to cycle through the options. When in "balance" option, there should be two zero's displayed to indicate balanced setting. If a number is displayed, you should be able to change the setting by pressing

  • Re: Classic Cars and “Classic” B&O

It's all about character? The older products have it in oodles, and so of course do old car's! Modern product impersonally designed by computer and built by robot's,just does'nt do it for me! Oh,and by the way, laser's are available for the Beosound 9000,a truly unique machine, and a good example of what B&O used to be all about! Nick

I agree that the MCL2AV is a useful bit of kit. The simplest function nowaday's is to use it to drive B&O active 'speakers as a stand alone system. You could also of course drive classic passive 'speakers if an MCL2p or Passive amp was employed too. The dedicated tape and cd inputs can be opened by remote keypad sequence, enabling connection of Bluetooth etc devices, but I wonder how the tv input can be used, without a B&O tv? Three inputs would be plenty for most needs? You could

  • Re: Beocenter 2200 in the modern day

It might seem a silly question, but have you got the 'speakers connected correctly ? The sockets are for two pairs of 'speakers, each pair having left and right channels. The SP2 connectors are for say,a pair of speakers in another room.SP2 is controlled by the switch under the front of the unit. Make sure that you have your pair of 'speakers connected to the SP1 sockets. If you are sure of the connections,a fuse may have failed. The speaker outputs have a fuse for each channel, and these

  • Re: DVD-1 as a CD music player

As Guy states,I don't think this will work without a tv? I'm pretty sure that there is no ir receiver within the DVD-1.The control data is generated either in the tv or via link component. I did manage to control a VHS82 vcr via the tape 2 port of the BM5000 years ago,to use the vcr as an audio recorder, but I think that we had to make an interface module to adapt the data pulses. It did work very well, and the underrated hi-fi sound facilty of the vcr produced great recording quality of some

I can't imagine how it escaped, but if you remove the white gear wheel you'll see where it slots into the chassis. Make sure the tiny wire spring on the red relay arm does'nt fly off either,as they are a real trial to find after they shoot past your ear! Nick
