• Re: Can I add Sony smart TV to my B&O set?

Basically yes, though you'd be hard pressed to use a single remote control which may or may not sour the experience. You'd always have to engage the source with a B&O remote and control the volume that way as well. B&O IR is notoriously difficult to use universal remotes or control systems with as it's way outside the normal range. That being said, if you have an audio system you'd go from the TV's optical output into a digital to analog converter (these are small and

  • Re: Beolink Activ as audio master ?

Nope. A BeoSound product with ML would have to be present. Link kits cannot communicate with one another independently.

  • Re: New BeoSound announcement imminent

I'm excited about this speaker, but my own system is Control4 based so the lack of PUC doesn't matter to me. But I'm curious to see how B&O sees their control footprint as the video segment becomes more fractured. The majority of people buying sound bars already own TVs so relying on a specific make or model is fairly meaningless on a large scale.
Like any other soundbar it works with any tv.....but it works better/best with an LG-tv. So what is not to like? MM
Exactly. I think the bigger story than B&O getting out of video is B&O getting out of Control, which whether they know it or not, they're doing. EDIT: To clarify, I agree that the scenario is not a bad one, but B&O internally have always thought of themselves as the top layer of control, whether locally via PUC or globally

  • Re: Looking for a non B&O tv for my wireless B&O speaker system

I don't know if it's been discussed in any detail, but when speaking with my LG rep, I don't believe the WISA version in their panels is compatible with BeoLab speakers. They weren't 100% certain, so neither am I, but certainly something to look into when making a choice. You can always find an AV Receiver with pre-amp outputs and connect into a B&O WISA transmitter, but of course there are costs carried with this. Purely on its own video quality, I would look at Sony's A9G

  • Re: Connect Beolab 17 with Sonos

I noticed you specified AirPlay 2 - The Sonos Connect doesn't have AirPlay 2. This is a feature that's very slowly making its way into the Sonos lineup and it won't be updating to existing hardware like the Connect. If you want a pair of BeoLab 17s to be available as an AirPlay 2 streaming target, your best bet today is to go with a BeoSound Core or a BeoSound Essence MKII if your local dealer has one laying around. Both are AirPlay 2 compatible and frankly not many "room kits'

  • Re: Why was Beo5/6 remote not a great success?

Having sold both of them, they basically had everything working against them. There was never a cohesive set of best practices for button layout. Text color, upper & lower case, same button in different places on different pages, made it feel more poorly designed than it was. Most B&O employees weren't programmers and it showed. The programming tool was proprietary and linked to the internal corporate web portal via credentialing. It was difficult even for a trained sales person to use

  • Re: Why can B&O not offer something similar to Nativ Vita as successor for Beosound Moment?

Neat looking product, but considering how poorly the Moment sold and how many holes there are in the main product portfolio it would seem like a very low priority.

  • Re: Opinion and reviews of Beosound Core

I enjoy mine. I have it running sound for my television connected to a pair of BeoLab 3s & a subwoofer. I'm controlling it with a Control4 system when used for video and either AirPlay 2 or the B&O App for music. The sound is excellent and I haven't had any network issues that were common in a few of the earlier networked products. As far as the lifecycle, it's as current as the sources it plays and what firmware it can take, but that would seem to be pretty good as the whole
