• Re: Beosound 5 HDD replacement

Find your local P C repair shop. Ask them to recover the HDD content and clone the disk if they can. I assume you have a mechanical failure and not a software corruption failure. Should be significantly cheaper

  • Re: Beosound Balance
The Balance’s two 5.25” bass drivers are better sounding than BL17’s single 6”? Wow, I’m surprised.
I dont see that really matters. We have as single speaker units (excluding the P-Range) M3, M5, BS1, BS2, Edge, A9 - plenty. Then we have the big Beolabs:- BL90, BL50, with BL20, BL18 near to EOL I suppose in terms of tech and BL17 definitely EOL BS Balance - evolutionary dead-end or something we have not seen yet? I see a big gap

  • Re: Beosound Balance

But wouldn't it be great if they got rid of all the "social" guff in these units, put a couple of powerlink sockets (and dare say I, a SPDIF port) and call them Beolab 30? De facto heir/replacement of the BL3 and BL17 and something many of us will use, rather than dither over an ocean of single-point music sources currently in the catalogue. 10

  • Re: Pair the Beoremote One and IR eye (Join version) to control Beolab 50 speakers volume

Hi, I just checked the invoice for my IR Eye for my BL90s. There is no part type specified apart from "IR EYE for Beolab 90" and "Misc" There is no join markings and there is no depression flex in the black strip (no clip button). Essence needs to be in IR mode BR1 needs to be in IR mode (Beosound mode)

  • Re: Beo App and DNLA Server

SG, I can confirm that both my Melco N1ZH2 and an Auralic Aries G2 can pull files via DNLA into the BeoApp but they cannot be searched. There is a limited search functionality with the DNLA Files in say the BV Eclipse (but this is I think part of the LG firmware). Harmony will be the same? I have a pair of BL90s, which either source from a BV Eclipse (via Powerlink) or an Auralic G2 setup (Streamer/DAC/Clock) via XLR. Using the Beovision and the Powerlink, the tracks are pulled from the Melco and
Sadly I’ve wasted a lot of money on B&O stuff that doesn’t deliver for different reasons or fails to deliver as B&O lose interest. I’ve also experienced phenomenal products that ‘blow me away’. Once bitten, twice shy....I was waiting for that killer remote!
I feel the same way and normally dont comment on new products until the froth has subsided. Some thoughts about B&O. BL90 (& 50) not supported by any

  • Re: Beoremote Halo, the future B&O remote control
Yes, but do you really think/hope that this tiny little display can replace the ‘feeding 3rd party audio sources’ (think: the mighty ui of Roon, or even the ui of Spotify)? This seems more to me to be a playlist-starter/radiostation-starter, where you can pause/play include/exclude your devices in a simple way and - of course - control the volume. Not quite the way I listen to music, If you’d still have to interact with some 3rd party app, would

  • Re: Beoremote Halo, the future B&O remote control

I see this has potential for me? Using the BR1 with the BL90s and feeding-in 3rd party audio sources is a dog and a faff to switch product modes. Volume is clunky too Using the Essence Remote with the BL90 Beolink IR Eye is also problematic because I think the IR function on the Essence is pretty weak (not like the BEO4) Using the BeoApp means flicking between Auralics music selection App and the Beo App for frequent volume control. If this controls the BL90 volume smoothly via IP control, I am probably

  • Re: Beolab 5 & 96khz sources

I will try and do some research on this but believe this is common problem with a lot of Hi-Res Transports/DACs. There are entries on the Auralic forums where this seems to be common occurance. I dont think it is a problem with your BL5s per se but something associated in sampling/resampling/upsampling digital files.

  • Re: Beolab 50 installation manual?

There is an installation manual for the BL90. I would imagine that the BL50 is very similar. Includes unpacking, moving, initial (vague) setup, calibration etc. I would say the manual is way beyond what you would receive from a high-end Separates manufacturer or loudspeaker manufacturer as I think it is assumed the individual knows how to connect an XLR cable to an XLR socket etc.... Powerlink (PL) or DPL has been a little different (but simpler) and the BL90/50 work the same as all other Beolabs
