• Re: Beomaster 4400 bad noise

Hi , that is a problem with buying stuff unseen(unheard). On the positive side it sounds like it is in great cosmetic condition and it can be fixed. Dillen on this site can supply you a full replacement kit of what usually needs replacing. With kit this old there can be other issues that need teasing out but you would need to be confident you can do all the soldering before starting. keep us posted on your progress.
My 15 year-old female cousin is very happy with her restored Beomaster 4400, a Beogram 4002 and a pair of S45's which I put together for under £150 incl a capacitor kit from Dillen
It really is all about where you live and availability - I think i would be hard pushed to get anything on your list for 150£. Might send you 150£ and a wish list :-0 !

  • Re: Beomaster 4400 Value

Piaf, a bm 4400 sold on German ebay (yesterday) for 161 euro which looks good and is claimed to be fully functional . If you had won that I am guessing it would cost 60 euro postage. So if it was packed well ad did not suffer any trauma en-route it still cost 240 euro with no real come back. Should your local guy charge you 300 euro or more , you are getting a quality piece of kit, keeping him in a job and investing in local economy and you do have the certainty of back up locally. Lets know how

It depends on where on the planet you live! In some countries like England Germany Denmark where these were obviously sold in sufficient numbers to find them locally. In my case in Ireland so little b and o that show's up second hand that I just have to buy from else where. My beovirus has been so far fed by Lee, iconic, Barrie , Leslie and Martin and all great people to deal with (when you need a fix)

  • Preset station's drifting

I have an external fm ariel on the roof, a circular omni directional type. I have stored all my preset stations . Mostly this works but occasionally the reception goes off and later is fine. I do not believe its an athmospheric issue. This also happens to a lesser extent when I use the cable tv as a radio source. Anyone any idea's ?

  • Re: On the official website, new B&O BeoPlay TV V1

Went to see the all the new stuff in Dublin yesterday and I am very impressed. The v1 looks great in grey 40inch. I think this will sell. Would I buy one ? If my avant died, yes. B&O needs new customers not just the existing ones who occasionally change stuff like me. The bv 12 was stunning but unless it comes in a 40 inch on a stand version it would not fit in my house.

  • Re: Which subwoofer to pair with BL8000's?

Ditto the last two posts, I have two of them ! The first is with the avant with four bl4000's and it is fantastic but the way I have it set up for movies it is not as nice for music as my other room. The second is with my lab1's and was used with 8000's before that. Changing from the 8000's to lab1's ment I had to adjust the lab2 settings. I have never had a problem with the lab 2 lagging but I was given the name of a band and a track (forget now) that this was noticeable in. It
Yendys, Valve and Hfat; Thanks for your opinions! Did you have a hard time adjusting it? I'm curious how people can have so different experiences between the two.
Simple answer- different folks different strokes ! I would bet none of our rooms (or ears) have the same conditions so it is a balance.

  • Re: BeoMaster 3400 Main Transformer rebuild
The cost was about the same as for the landed cost of the original part shipped from Denmark, but I decided that once I was going to spend the money, I'd put it towards a real technician who takes pride in his work, as opposed to financing greedy shipping companies.
"Way to go Menahem ! No carbon kilometers on your transformer and keeping your local expert in a job.

  • Re: Beolab 3000 crackles (?)

Evan and Ferdinand- a good idea to check all your power sockets on the loop you have your equipment on are properly "tight". Another consideration is what else have you got on that circuit. Easy to find out - just flip which ever fuse is at the mains and see what else is not working. All my av gear is on a dedicated circuit, easy for me as I was rewiring the house .
