  • ATV 4 and Beo Remote Control

Hi, currently I have an Apple TV (3rd gen) hooked to a BV10-32 and remote controlled via PUC from my tried and trusted old Beo 4. I have looked at the 4th gen ATV and like it. But it seems (and I am seeking for confirmation or correction here) that its remote control talks bluetooth instead of IR. Which in turn would mean, I had to use two remote controls for the set up (Beo 4 for the BV, Apple Remote for the ATV). Right or wrong (e.g. can ATV 4 be remote controlled in the same way as the 3rd gen

Ok. So, if anyone feels offended, please exchange the r-word with "excessively expensive". cheers Torsten

B&O prices are a rip-off. The individual cells are less than €1 each when bought in volumes. After my local B&O dealer quoted €49,- + VAT I started checking the net. Found a readily soldered pack at this German battery retailer (http://www.akkushop.de/de/accucell-2hhr140-akku-passend-fuer-rasierer-24-volt-1400mah/). It even has a little more capacity than the original B&O batteries. Incl shipping it set me back €12,75 - quite a difference to B&O's prices. It requires

My B&O store wanted €49,- plus VAT for just the replacement battery. This price is completely out of whack. Started googling and found a replacement battery in a German battery shop. €8,75 plus about €4,- shipping was more like it. Resoldering the original B&O cable was a piece of cake. Put the battery back in an all works again. So, if you're not afraid of a bit of simple soldering (which probably aren't since you already started disassembling your beo5 ) then get

  • Re: BeoCenter 1 and passive speakers

Fixed it. Solution was to build a dedicated PL cable. PL switches on via pin 4. MCL2P however needs this signal on pin 1. Build this cable, works. Only remaining issue: when switching off the BC1 have a pretty loud crack in the speakers. That does not happen if I switch the MCL2P off via it little on/off switch. So this has got to come from the TV. Anyone any idea for fixing this last glitch? cheers Torsten

Tried that - same result. I really think the BC1 thinks there are no loudspeakers. So the 1k resistor solution sounds great. Do you think this is needed only on one socket or would I need to do this on both sockets? If I need to do this on both sockets, will that resistors impact anything the MCL2P does? cheers Torsten

  • Re: BeoCenter 1 and passive speakers

No. It's a beo4 and I have used the speaker command when the system was in the main room to switch the "center" speakers (i.e. internal BC1 speakers) on or off. To me it really looks like the BC doesn't recognize there's something hooked up to the PL sockets. Are there different variants of MCL/Powerlink cables? cheers Torsten
