      Success!

I glued on a flattened head screw to the part and now the tonearm balances correctly.

If anyone else ever faces the same issue with their beogram, I attached some more pictures.

      Best,

      Tom

I figured it out. I glued a small screw, with flattened head to the underside and now the tonearm balances correctly.

Just listened to first record playing on it. I am loving it!

For anyone else ever facing the same issue, I attached some more pictures.

Ok, I have taken it further apart and took some more pictures.

Does anyone have the dimensions of the original edge bearing B part please (and any suggestions to bond a new pin to that surface)?

          Thank you.

          Tom

            Hi Martin,

I am not quite sure I understand.

Are you saying you would try to take out bearing T (is this the connected top side of the cast metal pin on the bottom (edge bearing B)) and replace the complete cast metal piece with something else?

Before I take the whole thing apart again, would you have a picture, that could explain what you are suggesting?

            Thank you for any help.

            Tom

              Hi Mark,

I am afraid the edge bearing B appears to be missing in my beogram 5005.

              How can I fix this?

              best,

              Tom

                Hi Mark,

When I compare my part 1110 with the picture in the service manual it appears to be OK. Both S pieces (the two little sharp cones) are there.

Can you please tell me/show me which part you think snapped of part 1110?

I still believe it has to do with “Schneidenlager B” of part 1108.

Does someone have a picture of the underside of part 1108, that I could compare with mine?

—and if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix/reattach that pin “Schneidenlager B”.

                Thank you.

                Best,

                Tom

                  Hi,

I don’t think the spring nor the counterweight are the problem.
I had another study of the service manual 6.6 and it appears the Schneidenlager B is missing. I couldn’t take a picture of it, but it feels flat. I think this is what’s causing my tonearm to hang low.

Now does anyone have any advice on how to go about fixing this. Can I glue something on, can I 3d print something, or do I need to start hunting for a replacement part?

                  Any advice, recommendations are welcome.

                  Thank you.

                  Best,

                  Tom

                    Hi Mark,

                    sorry I meant screw B.

I detached the spring for the picture only.

                      Hallo Rolf,

yes, I did. However screw C is broken on mine. It is however in the position not to lower the arm.

i think the problem has to do with the carriage. The arm just doesn’t seem to be balancing at the right height.

some more pictures for troubleshooting attached…

thank you for any help and advice.

                      best,

                      Tom

It’s almost like my 5005’s ‘normal position’ is the drop down height.

                          Hi Martin,

                          happy Easter!

The white bar at the back seems to be functioning well. It is in place properly and it lowers the arm correctly. This issue is the tone arm is just hanging/ balancing too low in the standard/ not playing position.

Please let me know if I can post any other pictures that would help with troubleshooting. I really would love to get the beogram going again.

                          best,

                          Tom

                            Hi Martin,

I think it is in play state. But the arms are not at the same height. Looking at other pictures online mine definitely looks out of place.
By playable state I mean arms do go to beginning of record (had to adjust start position slightly) and go over record and then return. When it starts it does lower the already low tone arm and it does raise it again, albeit only to the original low height again, when it returns.
