Thank you very much for sharing your “fiddling” experience, Matador!
I definitely helps to understand that other people have experienced similar obstacles but succeeded by trying and trying and..

I will continue to try pulling the center tap and meanwhile will check the bottom part as well.

BTW for lubricating the idler wheel / belt pulley assembly I have ordered WD-40 White Lithium Grease.
I am unsure about the right oil for the motor bearings.
Gearbox oil for cars should work but are a bit toxic.
    Which do you use?

    Hi Martin,

thank you very much for your reply and try to help!

Yes, I pulled on the upper / inner part of the center tap that sticks out when turning the center tap counter-clockwise to let it pop out through the spring-load. I tried again just the other minute and can’t get it out even with 4 fingers shoving up or two fingers “wrenching” the inner part of the center tap.

The inner spring-loaded part can be turned easily and moves up or down on the spring without any problems. To get completely off the platter spindle though does not work. at least not for me.

EDIT: I just found on the YT channel from UKSUPERRASCAL that the upper / inner part of the center tap contains a washer. Maybe it is stuck to the platter spindle and prevents lifting the inner part up from the spindle?

Anyway, is it possible to fully service the BG 3000 type 5228 from below without removing the subplatter? As I have seen from above the mechanism the idler wheel and belt pulley sits on needs some force to be moved towards and away from the motor spindle. The mechanism is spring loaded, if I understood correctly, and is pulled towards the motor by the main belt that drives the subplatter. So it should move without friction if pulled by hand,  right?

May ask 2 more questions while at it:
which lubrication is recommended for the mechanical parts / joints like idler-wheel – belt pulley mechanismen above?
is silicone grease appropriate? Or Molykote DX ?
The service manual does not provide information on that

Which lubrication is recommended for the motor bearings?
The motor spins freely without belt attached but I assume that motor lubrication is probably gone by now.
Are the pre-oiled bearings / oil reservoirs offered online favourable?

Sorry for all these newbie questions. My Beogram service experience is based on Beogram 4002 and to the fantastic, highly recommended blog / YT Channel of beolover.com.

    Kindest regards

    Stefan
