      OK, here’s the latest update. I took the BC5000 to a local ex-B&O tech (40 years with B&O) and he told me it would be $165 to inspect and the total repair would probably be around $500 to $600.

      Then….. he mentioned a unit that was sitting off to the side, a BC7007. I made an offer ($200) and he took it. So now i have a working unit (needs new stylus as it’s worn down) complete with the remote and hardcopy manual, very nice and in much better condition than the 5000.

      I’ll offload my BC5000 for parts this weekend, maybe $100

        Thanks Martin,

        I will have this checked out. Some people have mentioned the unit going into ‘protect mode’. Do you think this is what is happening as it looks like it is just going into standby with the 2 LED’s on the display?
