    Hello,

A project well done, very neat!
I hope they sound the way you wanted.
A good read for anyone wanting to do something similar.
Great job with the 3D printing as well.

    Kind regards,

    Hello Steve,

These should be pretty straightforward — you shouldn’t need any custom tools.
Take your time, it’s a project, not a quick repair.

    Turntable
Be careful when removing the tonearm; the wires are delicate.
The grease can become thick and cause the lift mechanism to seize or move very little.

    Receiver
Take plenty of photos, as the old service manuals aren’t great at explaining disassembly, reassembly, or wiring.
The Flex PCB on the front panel is especially fragile — if damaged, you’ll need to order a replacement from PCBWay (Or your preferred manufacturer).
The front panel switches can become stiff over time. It’s better in the long run to remove the switch assembly and clean it properly, rather than relying on a quick spray-and-pray approach.
If you remove the front panel, realigning the switch levers can be tricky.
The wires are prone to becoming brittle with age, and there are no connectors.

    DK Sound Parts
DK Sound Parts supplies most of the spares we can’t get directly from B&O, especially service kits.
Feel free to sing their praises — they’re also a sponsor of the website!

    Kind regards,
    Pete

    Hello,

You can find the user guide for the Beoplay V1 television here:
    Beoplay V1 – Bang & Olufsen Support

The guide explains how to add speakers and complete the setup—please refer to pages 9 and 19 for relevant instructions.

To connect external speakers, you will need a Powerlink to RJ45 adapter or a pre-made cable.
DIN Female to RJ45 – Part Number: 6271237

These items may be available from your local Bang & Olufsen store or service centre.

    Hello Lorenz,

Is the Tone arm weight correct?
Stylus pressure should be 1.5 grams.

You need an oscilloscope to set up the Antiskating.
This is mentioned in the service manual.
    BeoGram 2000 (1974) – Beoworld

It sounds like the tone arm is not properly dropping

    Hello George,

This issue is standard behaviour on all Wireless Power Link speakers due to TVs/Theatre sending data in all speaker setups at start-up, which causes all speakers to switch on briefly.

    Work Around
The only known workaround is to use wired Power Link

    Kind regards,
    Pete

    Hello Ben,

When you play a cassette or listen to the radio on the BeoCenter 4600, is the audio still low?

You can adjust the Line-in sensitivity within the Bang and Olufsen app.

How are you getting the sound from the BeoCenter 4600 to the Theatre?

    Hello

I noticed Speaker Repair Shop NL were selling some Penta drivers the other day.

    Set: 3 x midrange + 1 x tweeter for Beolab Penta
    Set: 4 x midrange + 1 x tweeter for Beolab Penta

I am not sure if they would be willing to sell the tweeter on its own.

I did find some other vendors selling just the tweeter, but as I have never used the store,s I would not be willing to link them.

    Kind regards,
    Pete

    Hello Adyan,

In the past, I’ve encountered instances where the BeoSound 9000 would lock up when the MasterLink was connected.
On powering up, the unit would remain in standby mode. It’s difficult to say for certain if you’re experiencing the same issue.
    This was caused by PCB32/PCB20.
They were replaced at the time.
Without physically inspecting the PCB, it is hard to diagnose down to component level.

As a first step, I recommend checking the MasterLink socket for any physical damage.
I’ve occasionally seen bent pins cause problems.

Unfortunately, this PCB is no longer available as a new part, so we do not sell or loan PCBs.
Prices for used parts on eBay have increased significantly, but it may be worth checking there for availability.

If you’re based in the UK, we can offer PCB repair services.
We understand that sending the entire unit isn’t always practical.
For details on PCB repair and inspection fees, please contact Multicare Electronics directly.
    Contact at Multicare Electronics
    Note:
If you’re located in the UK and can easily get to Leeds, I recommend bringing in the entire unit, as the inspection fee is the same.
Be sure to specify that you are only seeking repair of the MasterLink.

If you’re outside the UK, I suggest contacting your local Bang & Olufsen service centre to check if they offer PCB repair services.

    Hello,

Looking at the circuit diagram, there are not many electrolytic caps on the receiver.
There are a few for the blasters.
It could possibly be a low 5V rail, but I would put my money on a transistor breaking down over time on the IR PCB.
To see what is actually occurring, I would need to measure the IR in the circuit.
It’s difficult to say as we have not received a BeoMaster 3500 with this fault before.

    Kind regards,
    Pete

    Hello,

I would first eliminate the speakers.
Try the system with just one speaker plugged in and see if the problem persists.
The cables may also cause this issue.

Does the problem also occur when using headphones?

    Kind regards,
    Pete

    Hello,

Please avoid moving the sledge by hand, as doing so can cause the motor to feed back and potentially damage the drive transistors.
The sledge should not move when the unit is powered off, unless it was turned off while attempting to change a CD.

    No Movement:
If the sledge is not moving at all, the drive transistors may be blown.
    Check TR18, TR19, TR20, and TR21. PCB35 Motor control.

    Clamping Issues:
These are often caused by dust buildup on the worm gear for the clamper.
If left unaddressed, this can eventually damage the motor.

    Possible User Repairs

    “Cleaning Required” Message:
This message appears when the CD player cannot detect the door.
The sledge will usually begin to move after some time, albeit slowly.

Clean the black sensor windows on either side of the CD player.

    Reboots After CD Selection:
This may indicate that the safety laser lens needs cleaning.
Clean the two small clear lenses located on either side of the CD player.

USA Service Partners can be found here:
Bang & Olufsen Store Finder – Find the nearest location
There appear to be 2 classic service partners in the Los Angeles area.
Unfortunately, as Multicare is based in the UK, we are unable to service this unit without incurring significant shipping costs.

    Kind regards,
    Pete

    Hello,

You seem to be missing 3.3V ATX.

These devices are complicated to work on, so I would suggest returning the system to your local service centre.
The service documentation is not publicly available at the moment for this product.

    Hello Dave,

The uploaded picture is quite fuzzy.

Is this the spring you are looking for?

You could try asking dksoundparts if they have this item in stock.

If this is the spring you are looking for I am sure Multicare can provide a spring.
It will, however, be from a scrap turntable.

    Hello Mark,

You can adjust the pickup height.
The process is explained in the service manual.
    BeoGram 1102 – Beoworld

When returning on a 180g disc (without a slip mat), it barely lifts high enough to clear the surface

I believe the grease within the lift mechanism may have become viscous.
I would also recommend cleaning and regreasing if possible.

    Kind regards,
    Pete
