To follow up:

What I tried was the powerlink splitter to do exactly what you described in your post. This did not work as the 2nd pair of speakers connected over WISA still output the sound as surrounds.

What I ended up doing was getting second used Transmitter 1. Using the powerlink splitter from the core to PL1 port on EACH transmitter 1. Each transmitter 1 has a pair of speakers paired over WISA. This ended up working and the sound is really nice and stays in sync.

Now I need to fix the wifi in the room as the Core has a weak wifi connection and is intermittent.
