Thanks for the info. From your write-up you were at least getting a spinning disc – I’m getting nothing. I’ve now stripped the CD unit down, give it a light clean and re-seated cables, ribbons etc. I haven’t checked voltages yet but will do so next.
I’ve now found the service manuals and checked the schematics & test routines.
In the error log were 0601 & 0C03. Once cleared, they haven’t returned. None of the CD tests seem to do anything – straight to END. Running TM71 gives FOUL then END.
I don’t think a CD fault would prevent the radio & aux working and assuming I’ve got the pinout correct, aux doesn’t work either. Nor do headphones so I suspect it might be the main board.
The arial is connected and appears sound. Pr1 must have historically have been set to Radio 2 – 89.3. Interesting when scanning for FM, it skips past known good frequencies – is it supposed to stop when it detects a strong signal? With a bit of faffing I got it to 98.9 – Radio 1 – and again nothing.
